Whereas there has been a significant level of focus put on the pedestrians’ involvement in the motor vehicle accidents, there has been little attention accorded to the pedestrians who become victims of cycling-related accidents.According to the NYC traffic rules and regulations section 4-12 (p), in the Department of Transportation Traffic Rules, the policy demands for compliance with the directions of the officers in charge of law enforcement All the initiatives set in action are coordinated and tracked through the bicycle programs within the transportation department, and aided by other agencies, among which is the parking and recreation department, the Department of city planning, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Following the occurrence of cyclist-related accidents, various patterns of injuries can be observed, including the injuries of the limbs, the abdomen and chest and head injuries. The failure of drivers to yield the correct way has been cited as a major factor contributing towards frequent bicycle crashes. In this respect, therefore, important measures can be put in place, where modifications and improvements can be made on the engineering solutions and the roadway designs. The move to design intersections for the purpose of encouraging correct roadway behaviors is important for both the cyclists and pedestrians in the dramatic reduction of accidents in the city.

The failure of drivers to yield the correct way has been cited as a major factor contributing towards frequent bicycle crashes. In this respect, therefore, important measures can be put in place, where modifications and improvements can be made on the engineering solutions and the roadway designs.
