The first thing that Akande points out is that with the help of market economics and communication technologies, West introduced its good in the poor localities, which excited the youth and started the wheel of deteriorating the native culture and imposing theirs. Secondly, this method obtrudes colonialism and imperialism of British on the African nation, which made the African natives shoulder the west-based communication advancement, economies, and even their educational setup. Thirdly, the far most negative impact of globalization was the commercialization of the culture. Here the writer claims that the culture and likes and dislikes of people had turned into commodities that are needed to be exchanged on the international markets. Akande further claims that the music, clothes food, and dresses, which earlier were a part of who we are and what makes us outstand among others, have no space as a commodity in the market, therefore they are being replaced by new music, clothes, food, and dresses. He supports this claim by quoting the ex-chairman of Coca Cola "People around the world are today connected by brand-name consumer products as much as by anything else". In the end, Akande remarks that this globalization has robbed nations like Africa of their culture and diversity.

Moving to the recommendation part, one solution that will be highly effective is that the government should intervene to preserve the culture of their respective locality. As to how they should go about it? The state should be held responsible for securing and maintaining those sources, which display a country’s values. For a start, museums and libraries should be added as they are one of the accurate and appropriate outlets for showing about country’s culture, cultural studies and voluntary works regarding showing off the culture should be made mandatory at all levels of education; in this sense children will remain in touch with their identity, heritage clubs should be formed to discuss orally, the cultural heritage, an international day concerning the celebration of culture should be introduced and most importantly government should evacuate those policies and technologies that are the reason for the safe reaching of violence, pornography, and sex to homes, especially to youth.

Another idea that also needed to be worked on is removing the inferiority complex among the natives. Each country has its strength, qualities, and superiority, and letting other nations wipe it out or brainwash the people with the opposite idea is not allowed. Seminars, celebrating the day and other exposure to people regarding their country’s strength should be implemented, so that their defeated hope can rise again and they don’t become a victim of obtrusive globalization. For instance, the Nigerian movie Industry (Nollywood) should make more movies concerning the good aspect of the country to evoke feelings of nationalism and patriotism among them, since the movie is seen by all the citizens and what better way to convey these patriotic messages.

All in all, the negative impact of globalization such as market economies, communication technologies, and commercialization of culture can be wiped out with the help of government and arousing the nation with patriotism. Read More
