So we can see that Haiti had been having a bad social and economical status which was expected to change after earthquake-related humanitarian work. The author states that being an underdeveloped nation, Haiti’s medical infrastructure has been highly damaged and the refugee camps were only temporary relief which had many risks. The misery, causality, lack of proper medical facilities all were matters of concern in Haiti after the earthquake occurrence.

He in his book does point out the impartiality and discrimination in the country and how media and foreign agents restricted Haitian life during the disaster. He argues that the political and military should not interfere with humanitarian work as seen in Haiti. So we can see from the readings that Haiti as a disaster struck nation needs a more comprehensive strategy from their government and humanitarians.
