The officers include the issuer, the counsel of the issuer, the underwriters, the CFO and the brokerage company that offers shares (Bennett, 2000). With regard to civil law, due diligence is synonymous with a certain reasonable care. However, due diligence is the only requirement needed when patent is offered or given. During this time, the patent holder must acquire due diligence and develop a certain product around the given patent and should not prevent other people from doing so (Bing, 2008).

On the other hand, provenance is a chronology of the ownership, custody or the location of a certain historical object. Following its origin, the term provenance was used in relation to works of art, but currently, it is used in several cases including archaeology, archives, printed books, science and computing, manuscripts and palaeontology. The practice of provenance influences authentication of certain objects in several fields including art industry. However, there are additional techniques that may be used to these ends.

The techniques include comparative techniques, expert opinions and also the results of the scientific tests that may be used to these ends (Archer, 2008). Nevertheless, establishing provenance is essentially a matter of the documentation. This paper gives a detailed research taken by the MFA on the issue of provenance, with the history of ownership of its own collection of the European art. As the provenance takes its own path to the traditional part of curatorial work, there is a particular attention that is paid to the ownership history during the reign of the Nazi regime and the World War II, which happened between the year 1933 and 1945.
