Human Eating Habit and Food Cultivation Human Eating Habit and Food Cultivation Evolution is the fundamental element for the state of human race today. Human beings are driven towards their performance by the energy they possess through consuming food. It is to be established at this point that in order to function in daily life food is important. In today’s era everyone has a tight schedule to maintain in daily lives ranging from parent’s tending to their children and children fulfilling their respective obligation’s hence no one focuses on the significance of maintaining a healthy balanced diet and go for processed food including pizza and burger focusing mainly on takeaway food items, this in return result’s in harmful diseases in conjunction to obesity and poor eating habits and diet namely heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes as per US department of health and human services. In order to overcome these life claiming diseases it is important for people to alter their lifestyles eating habits and recognize the need for healthy diet. Conversely, comparing modern cultivation with traditional cultivation in today’s era the profit norm drives the mechanism of farming paying special emphasis on quantity of crops to be yield using pesticides and chemical fertilizers having implication on both ecosystem and human life, these crucial matters if not tend to than could lead to substantive impact on human lives (National Research Council , 1975). Firstly, poor diet associated with bad eating habits makes a human body more prone to being overweight and obese, according to W.H.O (World Health Organization) these traits makes a human body more susceptible to chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular heart diseases and cancer. People today should recognize the need to alter their lifestyle and incorporate physical activities and more importantly establish a healthy diet routine for themselves and recommend others as well by explaining to them the catastrophic risk on their lives which could be avoided by doing so (Counihan, 2013). Secondly, Stanford hospital USA suggest as per their research that alone in the United States of America obesity has doubled in children and tripled among teenagers since 1980, quoted as per research, that 15% percent of children aged six to 19 are considered overweight, adding to this that more than 60% of adults are either overweight or obese. As per WHO analysis, published on their website obesity was initially to be found more in high income developed countries but today this issue has widespread to developing medium income countries as well this drastic expansion of this grave issue delineate the fact that serious attention should be given as to create awareness among people and more importantly drastic changes in lifestyle eating habit are of significance if this issue is to be addressed (Beckford & Campbell, 2013). Thirdly, one of renowned medical institution of U.S.A, Cleveland clinic suggests that poor eating habits can also be the resultant for people to have poor digestive system or respective associated problems. As per Cleveland clinic, the problem persist because people eat too much processed food and sugar leaving a small consumption of fiber, fruits and vegetables which are integral for a healthy nutrition rich diet. Cleveland clinic also suggests that fruits, vegetables, proteins and grain products as suited to meet the balanced diet criteria should be built by consuming more of the following: Fruits Proteins Vegetables Grain Products Apples Eggs Cauliflower Multi grain bread Avocados Fish Corn Cereals & crackers Bananas Lean meats Mushrooms Rice Berries nuts Onions Whole wheat Grapes Peanut butter Peas Papaya Poultry Potatoes Peaches Seeds Spinach Once again it can be deduced from the findings of Cleveland Clinic that people should alter eating habits if they are to lead a life filled with happiness and prosperity (Leonardo & Sarma, 1998). In contrast, the other aspect of food apart from consumption in adequate amount is production of food which results from cultivation. Cultivation includes a wide range of issues starting from ploughing of the land, sowing of the seeds, providing nutrition to the land by inputting minerals the land is deprived of and tending the land with particular required amounts of water, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. In today’s era as compared with traditional farming, cultivators of food have divided their cultivation in to organic and inorganic farming. Inorganic farming synthetic fertilizers and pesticides to boost yield rate of cultivation but also impacting the ecosystem through disturbing natural habitat of species like honey bees as per Green peace organization. Also synthetic pesticides have devastative impact on human lives according to American Journal of Industrial Medicine, for instance home lawns where synthetic pesticide is applied children living their playing in the lawn are more susceptible to leukemia, similarly for instance if synthetic fertilizer is applied at a golf course than groundkeepers, golfers and probable landscapers suffer from a long list of health problems mainly non-Hodgkins lymphoma (Conklin & Thomas, 2007). Moreover, in present times where on one side we are altering our lifestyle changing are eating habits and influencing our diet what use is that if the food we get has further negative health associated implications as evident from the N.R.C (National Research council) U.S.A findings that cultivation using synthetic fertilizer are more prone to oncongenic, a cancer causing element. In addition to this when applying synthetic fertilizer there is a limit that land absorbs the leftover excess is flushed away through water from land to streams or lake making its way to the ground water which is consumed by people inhabiting in the region and getting claimed by many harmful diseases. In order to confront with this life threat posing issue of synthetic fertilizer cultivators should adopt to new better methods of farming and carefully plan the dumping procedures of these synthetic fertilizer and pesticides, organization such as the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department of the U.N.O strive to provide guidance through various publications and offices cultivators should benefit from the work and findings of such organizations and be less reluctant to organic farming as it has less implications of synthetic fertilizer and pesticides (United Nations, 2009). Hence, it is important that humans adopt to change and alter their lifestyles with respect to eating habits and cultivation of food, as evidence suggest poor diet and less directive farming claims many lives annually questioning human survival.
