: Applying for Masters MSc in Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials - Personal Statement Example

Personal ment for Application to MSc in Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials at Imperial College, London My interest for applying to the MScCourse in Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials has arisen as I am currently pursuing by Bachelor course on this subject and I am finding it extremely interesting. I realize that in order to successful in a particular field, one needs to love the subject, and I can say that I am naturally inclined towards this subject. Hence pursuing my post graduation on Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials would allow me to contribute successfully in this field.

I would also prefer to consider the management career in this field in relation to designing of implants and prosthesis that interest me the more. I have been consistent in my results, which reflected about 70 percent marks on my subjects such as Medical Physiology, and Clinical Problems in Biomedical Engineering and Biomaterials. I have been sincere in gathering knowledge on genetic and medical materials. I have two courses in focus – MSc. in Biomedical Engineering with Biomaterials, and MSc.

in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering. However, considering my interest, I am focused more on the first choice and would like to pursue my course at Imperial College, London as it is the best known institute that can guide me through developing and preparing myself to contribute in this field. Also, I prefer this institute owing to its suitable location that would enable me to have a suitable job once the course if completed. I am applying for the Masters Course as it will help me enhance my knowledge and make me more focused on the applications of the subject.

Also, I am looking forward to choose the optional module - BE9-MHEDM Health economics and decision making, firstly because it is different from what I have already learnt, and it will also help me improve upon my managerial skills related to the subject. I should also mention about my previous performance on the subject. I have been consistent on my educational results. I also remained as a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining. I have participated in several industry visits across the country including Jaguar/Land Rover, TATA Steel and Apatech, and Apatech was highly appealing to me as I could relate it more with my daily learning and applications.

As far as my skills are concerned that would benefit this particular field of study and application, I would mention that I am sincere, dedicated, punctual and efficient of time management. Also, I am skilled in numeracy, communication skills, analytical skills, as well as in practically applying the knowledge gained from theory and laboratory practices, which I attained during my undergraduate course. I have learnt that these skills are essential and hence I am focused on continuous development and improvement.

My course has enabled me to be analytical in thinking and applying knowledge learnt from the course, through their problem based learning methods. I am also efficient in working in lab and have learnt the usage of equipments such as scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, and universal testing machine. Also, I would like to mention that I remained as the Vice president for the Muay Thai Society at University for 2 years. I was involved in organizing fresher’s fairs, organizing tournaments, applying for sports funding and in general making sure the society was set up correctly and everything was run properly, skills that I would like to use in the field of biomedical engineering.
