Email Address: IRP PROPOSAL FORM Issue Why is it Important for High School to learn basic computer programming?
Are high school students in a position to learn Computer programming refers to the act of writing orders to be followed by the computer for it to run various programs pertaining to the instructions it has been given by the programmer. In the computer programming processes, there are basic guidelines that compose series of ons and offs, which the computer follows while running them via the processor as well as turning the switches on and off (Denning).
2. Rationale for using an interdisciplinary approach
The interdisciplinary research approach is one of the most productive as well as exciting human quests. This approach enables an individual to access forms for dialogues and provides the individuals with links that results into acquiring new knowledge. As a perfect approach to discovery and learning, interdisciplinary approach has managed to deliver a lot and promises a greater sustainable surrounding, which is healthier and with more affluent lives. This is aligned with new forms of discoveries together with technology aimed at inspiring the young minds and getting a deeper concept regarding to our position in space, and time (Denning).
The importance of using an interdisciplinary approach in tackling the issue of introducing computer programming to high school students is that the approach enables the one to draw strengths and various armory of tools brought about from various disciplines. Also the aspect of focusing on different disciplines enables an individual to broaden his or her literature foundation, hence giving rise to the original theoretical imminent. Additionally, interdisciplinary is thus, reflexive in nature (Tait, & Catherine).
3. A list of the disciplines involved and the perspective of each
Computer Programming holds various disciplines including computer science. Computer science attempts to address issues dealing with natural and artificial information processes but the key effort is focused on the human made practices particularly information systems and machineries. Much knowledge regarding to the computer concerns include the digital computers and the principles that surrounds it includes, programming and computer science designing. Introducing such disciplines at high school level will put students at a better position in the global market. This discipline under computer programming will enable students have convergent cognition (Anold and Mabel).
Soft ware engineering is also a discipline in computer programming subject. Hence under this discipline, students should be in apposition to understand that, keeping close the project scope is very significant in developing a product. Hence, this helps students to take into consideration the needs and the desires of the larger market (Tait and Catherine)
Another discipline in computer programming is Mathematics. Mathematics as a discipline enables the students to think with a lot of energy and accuracy. In today’s setting, a lot of thinking and dialogue is required, thus, proper mathematical model enables the students to have the value linked to composed analysis. Mathematics as a discipline in programming enables students to have the capability to tackle the specific application areas. It also equips the students with the skills in handling formal models. Formal models include programming languages, and the generative grammar (Denning).
