The understanding of what happens after death has been the focus of the various religions and myths. Several books are produced with the purpose of critically analyzing the different beliefs and traditions practiced around the world. The belief in apocalypse exists in almost all religion with the focus being on what happens after death(p.23). The book by Richard Baulkham entitled: The Fate of the Dead: Studies on the Jewish and Christian Apocalypses tackles issues of death and the comparative beliefs of the jews and Christians. These concepts are similar despite the difference in the storyline. “The descents to the underworld are common in the myths and traditions of many cultures”(p.45). The descents are attributed to gods and heroes. The major focus of the story is on the attitude of the heroes in relation to the loss of the loved ones in death. Jewish Studies: Compare the Jewish Society and Culture in Two Different Time Periods

...?Jewish Studies: Jewish Society and Culture in Two Different Time Periods Iberian Jews The history of the Jews in the Iberian Peninsula can be tracedback to the time the Second Temple was destroyed in Jerusalem. This is approximately 2000 years ago when the Jews fled their homes in search of better places to live in Europe, Northern Africa and Asia. It is during these times that some of these Jews made their way to Spain and Portugal, or the Iberian Peninsula (Pasachoff and Littman 11). The two main Jewish groups in the Iberian Penisula are the Marrano and converso and they collectively refer to themselves as the Sephardi Jews. Is brain dead really dead

...? Is “Brain Death” Really Dead IS “BRAIN DEAD” REALLY DEAD? Brain death is a mainstreamed rationale, equated to death itself. Holocaust and Jewish-Christian Relations

...Shoah Project- Connection between Holocaust and Jewish-Christian relations From the conflicts over Pope Pius XII, whether portrayed as a pitiless anti-Semite or a saver of many Jewish lives during World War II, to the confusion over how to take the 1998 Vatican document on the Holocaust, the Catholic Church is in great dispute over its history of relations with the Jews. "Who killed Christ" has always been the justification of the Church over the issue of the persecution of the Jews. As well as every other massacre of Jews in Christendom, it was also heard at the time of Hitler's Holocaust. The fact that the Catholic Church has a history of anti-Semitism and it is a prevalent belief in...

Richard Neustadt's Studies Presidental Power

...Richard Neustadt's Presidential Power and the Modern Presidents, and Bob Woodward's The Agenda The two books, Presidential Power and the Modern Presidents and The Agenda, present different analyses of the American Presidency in general (in Neustadt's study) and the Clinton White House in particular. Together they offer a comprehensive view of the changing influence and powers of the presidency in the modern period. While some of Neustadt's arguments are perhaps a little dated as it was originally published in 1960, although updated to include the Reagan Presidency, it does give a sound background on which to consider the specifics of a very unique Presidency: that of President Clinton. Neustadt starts...

...minorities that are a part of the US. The concept of Uncle Sam being Jewish and the banner of Jews belonging to America as a part of the melting pot that integrated into America are some of the largest concepts that are a part of the culture. The entertainment of adding in Jewish holidays to the Christian ones on TV and the integration of different music and entertainment was also known to contribute to this concept (Rogin, 4, 1996). The main emphasis that has been kept with the Jewish culture is to take away the melting pot culture that was stereotyped outside of the main cultural arena. Americanizing immigrants in the 1960s, using intermarriages in entertainment...

Things fall apart/apocalypse

...Similarities between Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness Both the movie, Apocalypse Now and the book, Heart of Darkness written by Joseph Conrad effectively talk about a particular man’s lengthy journey through the cruel, dark wilderness of Vietnam and Africa. The mission of Marlow seems to be to rescue Kurtz from an inner station, Congo, while Willard intends to terminate the command of Kurtz up River Nung, by any necessary means. Moreover, there is more parallelism between these two forms of art, yet discrepancies also separate the two. Although the various characters found within the two pieces seem to be different in their roles, but their intended purposes seem to be similar with regard to the...

So, the faith of Judaism does not undermine the significance of environmental factors, but like Christianity it also puts religious reasons for bringing the apocalypse at the front. Standing in contrast to the scientific argument, religious factors receive the most attention in the Jewish faith and environmental problems are thought to channel the apocalyptic events.
