Due Radiology Partnership A Radiation Technologist inherited a substantial sum of money from her grandfather. She wants to use that money to buy into a partnership, which owns an imaging group. Is there anything that seems unethical about such an arrangement? Could the arrangement be made ethical by full disclosure of the ownership interest to all patients? The radiologist in the scenario inherited money and has decided to invest in the clinic that she works for. By becoming a partner she would hold partial ownership and this may be perceived as unethical.

However, if the radiologist is completely open about her new investment and partnership then there seems to be little room for a lack of ethics. Some businesses benefit from having owners that are active participants in the business that is their livelihood. The only potential opening for unethical behavior would be if this radiologist is interested in abusing her position or finding negative and underhanded means that could undermine the clinics integrity; or was in anyway, compromising patient care, which is not yet an issue.

In fact, as stated prior, it is a possibility that the partnership could be beneficial to the clinic not a hindrance.
