Managers learn better from experience or theory

...accepts the change in behaviour as a desirable feature. Subject to this theory there are three phases of the learning process where experience is the starting phase followed by reviewing and generalising the experience. The third phase is practicing the generalisation. These three phases lead to formation of a new cycle of experiences. Learning will be most effective when the content will be seen by managers as satisfactory to their needs. The essence of natural learning is making a connection between the action and its consequences. New learning must never be inconsistent with past learning and experience, and new...

Much To Learn From History

...Much To Learn From History History is something I always enjoyed studying. Even when I was little, I thoroughly enjoyed studying and reading aboutU.S. History. Especially the time period of 1865 to the present. If I could get my hands on different topics of history, I would sit down for hours and get a grasp of the period of time. It was this passion for history that led me to take this subject matter. I decided to enroll in this History course and intended to do just that. As I took the course I continued to develop my understanding of the period and came closer to better understanding the time period. I felt I really grew as a historian and as a result am very grateful that I made the initial decision to enroll...

What did you learn from the articles

...1. What did you learn from the articles? The two articles I have read discussed teen sexuality in two different ways. The first, Red Sex, Blue Sex discussed the incidence of pregnancy among teenagers in the context of socio-political influences while the second article, High School AIDS Outbreak, dealt with sexual education among teenagers. There are several lessons learned from the articles. First is that there is a glaring distinction between conservative and liberal America in regard to raising children and how they perceive sex and it outcomes such as pregnancy. The values distinction is so evident that each manages to shock one another as if they came from different cultures. Raising children by...

Video from TED Talks

...TED Video Comment Bertrand Piccard’s solar-powered project is undoubtedly highly ambitious. Hismotivation to fly a solar-powered aircraft is evident. There is critical concern over environmental conservation and sustainability. Continued environmental pollution as people use more and more fuel energy drives Bertrand Piccard to go for what appears impossible. The thought of solar-powered aircraft sounds unsafe and appears to be an unachievable dream. To his audience, however, Bertrand Piccard expresses his arguments clearly and convincingly. Flying around the world requires massive energy. In order to meet the required energy levels to sustain such a trip, it is critical to have a reliable source of energy. Over and above...

What can we learn from Rosa Parks

... What We Learn from Rosa Parks One of the lessons that we can learn from Rosa Park and apply to our modern life is the need for people to have courage and do the right things, based on their beliefs. This does not necessarily mean that people should demonstrate or boycott their work once they experience a conflict but rather to have the self-drive to initiate change in the society (Theoharis 45). Another lesson that we can learn is the need to try, always, to improve the quality of human life in our environments. Although this may not be to a magnitude of Park’s work, every positive effort will affect someone’s life positively. Additionally, there is need for the modern society to understand that the dark past of racism took a lot... of...

11 Reviews from different articles

...Reviews from 11 different articles What is Performance? Performance is the art of staging a work of art at present (Bial, 146). In this respect, performance draws its essence from the fact that it cannot be recorded or stored for future use, but only serves the purpose of the present time. Thus, there is neither circulation nor reproduction as far as performance is concerned, since the only recipients of a performance are the direct spectator audiences that are present at theater or any other artistic stage when the act itself is being staged (Bial, 147). Performance occurs in real-time, at a time when it will not be repeated. Therefore the recording through video cameras for the sake of future viewing...

Operant Conditionings From a Video

...Operant Conditioning In the YouTube video on Supernanny’s episode with the Agate’s family, one can be able to see how operant conditioning works in changing the poor parenting skills in place. When supernanny first arrives, the Agate’s family is in a complete mess and the mother is not in total control of the situation. Maryanne especially seems to be one commonly seeking her mother’s attention and disturbing her older sisters (Jane, 2014). She keeps disrespecting others, runs away from the house without her mother’s permission and always has tantrums when going to sleep. When supernanny came to the house, she introduces a reflection area in the house with three bean bags where the girls went they misbehaved. This is a...

What I learn from Analects

...What I learn from Analects Introduction “Analects” is Chinese for “edited conversations”(The China Reviews 166). The Analects, also called the Analects of Confucius, is a collection of thoughts and sayings associated with Confucius, the Chinese philosopher. Many scholars believe that the followers of Confucius wrote the book during the period of Warring States (c. 475 – 221 BC), shortly after his death. Confucius held the belief that the well-being of a nation depended on a high standard of morals, starting with the nations leaders. Over the years, the Analects has been translated into several languages. The three major themes of the book are social philosophy, political philosophy, and education (The...
