Sensory Perceptions" Introduction Perception is an individual understanding and decision. Depending upon the knowledge, insight and thoughts, an individual judges and understands the situation. Since, knowledge and experience decides the quality of pronouncements and influences life of an individual to a greater extent, individual must make a decision with presence of mind. The final decision depends upon the sensory perception, judgment of the situation and prior experiences. Every individual is an inseparable part of the society, therefore, in certain cases some decisions also persuade the society.

Knowledge alone cannot provide the wisdom and thoughtfulness to take the right decision but experience plays a vital role. One must have the ability to delineate what one must know and what not to act accordingly. When an individual touches any hot object, reflex action works and immediately hand is withdrawn before any mishap occurs. This is based on knowledge that a person acquires, things burn if they catch fire and an experience further strengthens knowledge to stay away from hot objects, such an approach safeguards the individual from any jeopardy.

This is based on accuracy of information and experience gained. In a similar manner if there is a leakage of cooking gas, a person immediately senses the potential danger of some mishap and by trusting the accuracy of sensory response an immediate action is taken based on the knowledge, to switch off the regulator and to open the doors and windows. Sense of perception empowers one to drive safely on the road. By trusting the accuracy of sensory response of sight, judgement to drive with precision and to manage the traffic turns up and enables an individual to avoid road accidents.

Reasons to believe sensory information can be inaccurate Experience plays a vital role in taking certain decisions, for instance if an individual had an argument with his neighbour and he happens to see his neighbour talking with one of his close friends, immediately a thought enters his mind that the neighbour must be talking about the incident of argument. This perception could be inaccurate as they may be talking about something else.

Such perception depends on the nature of the individual, the psychological upbringing which frames the thoughts and hence it is based on the nurture of the individual. In some cases sensory data is interpreted inaccurately. For instance, one may judge the depth of the ditch on the road as shallow and presumes that he can cross the ditch with ease, but may get stuck. Thus, sensory information may not always be accurate. An insecurity is perceived in relationships, if husband is talking with any other lady, wife feels insecure.

Insecurity further augments if she observes her husband talking with the same lady repeatedly, wife may conclude that there is something fishy going around. However, they might be talking something else, about school of the child, education, office of any other matter. In such cases the perception and sensory information could be inaccurate. Conclusion Circumstances or situations might be interpreted in a distorted manner and therefore one must be alert and judgmental to assess the perception, analyze the situation and then draw any conclusion.

Nature is decided by nurture to perceive things. Sensory perception sharpens with knowledge, experience and also through interaction, communication and sharing others experiences gives wisdom to judge with more accuracy before making a final conclusion.
