The dangerous idea of the title is Darwins discovery that natural selection, alone and unaided,is enough to explain everything we see in the living world, ourselves included. If this is so, part of the danger is that we cannot confine Darwinism within any one science. Like a "universal acid" that can eat through anything, evolution by natural selection leaks out of biology and cant be contained, despite the efforts of many.
