Apparently, the root of the name originates from mechanical and electronics, which implies that both phases of intervention towards solving specific challenges are crucial in the design of engineering products. Four main systems are managed in mechatronics namely, information, mechanical, computer and electrical, to provide a composite application in which mechanical engineering is put to test. Commonest application designs for mechatronics include home security applications, implant devices, jet engines, robotics, antilock brake, and intelligent highways among many more designs. The basic applications in this category appears to be and structural control (Bolton, 1995). To this end, the mechatronics aspect of mechanical engineering is considered key in industrial and semi-conductor revolutions as discussed below.
Massive mechanical energy utilization fueled he industrial revolution that shaped the human civilization and introduced unprecedented differences to quality of life. Mechanical engineering designs formed the bulk of the industry that was rapidly taking shape from astronomical demand for energy to power the revolution. Gears and levers were among the commonest components of the mechanical engineering designs.
Other components utilized in the revolution included cams and linkages that assisted in reduction of power demand and inefficiency incurred. Improvements towards the later stages of the revolution introduced mechatronics components that integrated electrical enhancement for the engineering designs (Fukuda, Harshama and Tomizuka, 1996).
Learning from the potential that electronic enhancement could bring to mechanical designs, the world was prepared to ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...?Mechanical Engineering- Mechanical Project Materials remain the fundamental components utilised in construction of engineering structures. In the development process, the structural requirements remain essential in assisting developers into deciding on the correct materials for use within different structures. Making material choice remains an essential element for enhancing proper functioning of the structure, upon construction. The selection process for materials follows analysis of the functions for the proposed structure being constructed. The functions determine the required material strength among other properties; hence selection of material meeting structural requirements (Jones 1975). Other than strength and stiffness... this...

...Polymers (FRP) industry. During the Second World War, demand for alternate materials increased, as they became necessary in the manufacture of lightweight military aircrafts. During this period numerous advancements occurred regarding the production and application of fibre composites. Engineers discovered other advantages as these material remains transparent to radio frequencies utilised during wartime. Many fibreglass reinforced material became adopted in protecting electronic radar equipment. Following the end of the war inventors began making application for the fibreglass within other industries, other than aviation. Brandt Goldsworthy – grandfather of composites, developed numerous processes for manufacturing...

...outcome. The modern tools have enabled the engineers to be able to reduce the development and manufacturing costs as they give a prototype that resembles the actual outcome of the product. Through use of modern tools the engineer will estimate the strength of the materials used by testing the strain and stress caused by varying weights. As mentioned earlier, mechanical engineering just like any other engineering discipline has a variety of sub disciplines. The field is a collection of different mechanical disciplines usually taught at the undergraduate education level. Some of the disciplines are unique in nature while...

...telescopes Abstract 2010 was a year in which many extrasolar planets were discovered with the help of powerful telescopes. Apart from the smallest planet, some big planets and an earth like planet were discovered in 2010. The hope for finding life forms in other exoplanets is increased a lot after the discovery of these discoveries. This paper briefly analyses the recent discovering of planets outside the Solar System using telescopes. Outline 1. Introduction The factors, which forced or encouraged the human to look for planets outside the solar system is explained in this part. 2. Extrasolar planet or Exoplanet The terms like Extrasolar planet and Exoplanet which represents the planets found outside the solar system...
