By the phrase, “the next wave” Herridge refers to the emerging terrorists and their upcoming evil stratagem. Throughout, the book swivels around the hirers of impending terrorists and indicates that such employers can be anyone of our neighbors too. The Next Wave debunks the nurturing of terrorism on the very terra firma of the country and throws light to the obvious upcoming threat to America. By the end of the book I came to figure out the harsh reality of the ineptitude of our authorities who are undoubtedly responsible for the evil’s inroads into our nation thereby endangering our well being.

Thorough her impeccable professionalism, Herridge exposes the pretense of the government which abets the most brutal Islamic terrorists to arrive and depart the country’s terra firma without the least constraints. It is rightly shared, “Based on the conversations I have had, FBI is engaged, Homeland Security is engaged, and those within the intelligence community who measure the threats inside the U.S. every day.”(Herridge 10) The cases the reporter shares one after another reveal her tenacious guts and indomitable spirits.

A significant thing to note is that Herridge appears to be least apprehensive about the consequences of revealing negative results of the government. Her mission is to bring out the truth despite the potential result of being the centre of controversies. Only daring reporters own the fortitude to unmask the truth meticulously without the trepidation of being criticized. Before reading The Next Wave I had the discernment that the activities of al Qaeda have come to an end with the annihilation of the leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
