The Middle East is considered to be in the region of the most arid areas in the world. There are challenges that are involved in the effort of maintain both the food sovereignty and security. In order to understand the issue of the food insecurity, there is the need to understand the problems that are involved. The contrary of the state of having the food security is the insecurity. The insecurity refers to the lack of the accessibility of sufficient food for the population. However, there are two different kinds of food insecurity: transitory and chronic.

The transitory food insecurity refers to the partial decline concerning the household accessibility to ample food resources. On the other hand, the chronic food insecurity refers to a continuous inadequacy of diet that is caused by the lack of ways to access food resources. The chronic food insecurity affects the household that persistently have no ability to acquire ample food or production of their own. Thus, poverty can be considered as the cause of the chronic food insecurity. However, the worst form of transitory food insecurity is considered to the famine.

It also is a result of war, floods, crop failure, drought and sometimes loss of the household purchasing power. The disruptions to the food supplies care responsible for triggering the crisis by threatening the population accessibility to food. There are groups of people that are vulnerable to the famine. These are the group of people that participate in the triggers like wars. These wars are frequent on the Middle East. There are others that are also vulnerable to the problem that includes small-scale substances farmer; the worker that is affected by the fall in the real income in the areas that are famine.

Other is the elderly, pastoralist landless agriculture. The vulnerability is considered to be a complex issue and have the implications of process rather than the event. The process facilitates
