Client’s 5 January There are myriad people across the globe who enjoy eating meat, KFC, Burger King and so on, have become incredibly successful within literally no time at all. Meat eaters hardly bother about how animals are treated before they are slaughtered, what matters most to meat eaters is taste, everything else is secondary to them. “Animals have certain rights like human beings have rights of their own but animal rights are consistently being violated, there are several videos on YouTube that clearly show how human beings kick animals before slaughtering them.

In KFC warehouses chicken are tortured and their beaks are broken before they are slaughtered, intense pain is inflicted upon them and this is certainly beyond the pale.” (Fast Food and Animal Rights) Smithfield foods, is the largest pork producer in the world. The company is running riot by polluting the environment at an unprecedented rate. 27 million hogs were slaughtered last year, these pigs live in unimaginable circumstances, and their wastes are let out into rivers. The wastes contain toxic materials because of which several fish and human beings have been killed.

The articles sheds light upon how some people in the US who fell in pig shit lost their lives, the living conditions of these pigs is anything but ideal. They live in warehouse-like barns; they often trample each other to death. Their wastes are let out into rivers, which pollutes the rivers and the air that people breathe. Employees of Smithfield foods stink a lot, they start growing different hair and skin within a month and then quit after realizing that this is not their cup of tea, the smell stays with them for three long months.

Pig waste contains toxic chemicals like ammonia, methane, sulfide, nitrates so on and so forth, these pigs are given antibiotics and other medicines to make them ready for slaughter, after slaughtering they are sold as meat to the consumers. During floods pig shit spreads across the country uncontrollably, the waste can easily cover several football fields into shallow mud puddles of toxic chemicals. Joseph Luter III is the chairman of Smithfield foods who defends each and every action of the company.

Hog shit is sprayed in the air which contains several toxic chemicals; it pollutes the environment and cause severe lung problems to the people who reside in the vicinity. It is also clear that the biggest spill in the history of hog farming which occurred in the year 1995, 25.8 million gallons of effluvium was released by a competitor of Smithfield into the New River in North Carolina. Joseph Luter is planning on expanding his business in European countries like Romania and Poland; he aims to make these countries the “Iowa of Europe”.

Meat eaters have a lot to worry about, the way meat is prepared is truly shocking. Pork eaters especially must know how the meat is prepared and under what circumstances the pigs live. Smithfield foods is the largest pork processor in the whole wide world, the company recorded an annual sale of about $ 11.4 billion this year. The company has been accused of releasing toxic pig shit which is as dangerous as radio-active substance into the atmosphere. Pigs are given antibiotics and other harmful medicines to ensure that they survive till they are slaughtered and served as meat.

The living condition of these pigs is far from ideal, they often trample one another to death because of congestion. ‘Overapplication’ occurs when pig shit is sprayed into the fields to avoid it from overflowing; this has serious ramifications on the health of the people living in the vicinity. Smithfield foods, is constantly looking to expand and their next targets are Romania and Poland. Animal rights are consistently being violated and this must be stopped at the very earliest.
