A simple word that describes me as an individual is potential. That untapped potential can be used by me to succeed academically at the college level. Scores in standardize exams and G.P.A. do not always reflect how smart a person is. One of my greatest abilities as a student is my superb verbal and written communication skills. A lot of learning takes place in the classroom when the students communicate with each other and discuss openly the topics the professor is teaching as well as other current affairs.

During high school I was able to help three students seek help since they were thinking of committing suicide. These incidents opened my eyes as to what is important in life and gave me the self-confidence as to my value to others. I have matured a lot since then as these lifetime experiences have opened my eyes to what is important in life and gave me the self-confidence to my value to others. One of the qualities or attributes that sets me apart from other candidates is my maturity in the midst of crisis.

Along with the classroom work I also participated in extracurricular activities during high school. I joined the varsity lacrosse team and have been improving my grades this semester. Despite an offer of early entrance into the lacrosse varsity team last year I rejected it because at the time I needed to focus more on the classes. My lifetime experiences help me improve my leadership abilities which allowed me to be elected captain of the lacrosse varsity team.
