Future generations will have unprecedented access to history through the explosion of video and digital forms of preservation. Museums and historians will have to develop ways of cataloging this infusion of digital remnants so future generations will be able to efficiently access the lives of their forefathers. Another prominent thing that will be leftover from the United States is its cultural and artistic production. While one does not necessarily think of an idea or song as a tangible object that can be preserved, it’s clear that historically these are often the most remembered aspects of a culture.

In terms of the United States’ cultural production, one considers that the great literature the country has produced will remain; for instance, the novels of Ernest Hemingway or Mark Twain. Other aspects that will surely be remembered are songs. Bands such as Nirvana or singers such as Elvis Presley may be remembered even hundreds of years after their existence for their rare talents and contribution to American society. Still, other cultural objects that will be remembered include the profound intellectual developments that have occurred throughout the United States.

In this regard, one considers that the United States has advanced tremendous understandings of the universe, including string theory and the discovery of cosmic background radiation. These intellectual ideas will be remembered and live on in the scientific progress that is made by future cultures. A final thing from the United States that will remain from future generations is computer technology. The last fifty years have seen an explosion of computer technology, the great amount of which has innovated and developed in the United States.

While this technology will surely be outpaced by future developments in computer technology, these early incarnations of the personal computer, the Internet, and cell-phone technology will remain as they now and will continue to function as one of the cornerstones of social, educational, and business interaction. In conclusion, this journal entry has examined what will be remembered and leftover from the United States. In these regards, it’s noted that remnants of culture preserved in digital technology will be one of the primary things remembered.

Another thing will be intellectual and cultural production. Finally, future generations will remember the computer technology that was developed.
