ASSIGNMENT Management Challenges" Identify an industry that is dealing with or has dealt with change in one of the following areas: -Globalization -Technology -Workforce – downsizing, outsourcing, etc. Summarize the type of change that occurred. Why did it come about? How was it dealt with? Was it managed successfully? Why or why not? What challenges in this area remain?Recently the automotive industry has been forced to deal with workforce downsizing. This downsizing has caused many to be forced with the option of choosing a buyout, lay off, or reduced work hours.

This change enabled the auto industry to close the doors and halt production in many assembly auto plants. This change of downsizing was necessary because the auto industry was making vehicles and not having enough sales to keep up with production. The change was not dealt with in a respectable manner. The auto industry went bankrupt and many lost their job. Since the auto industry was so big of a job provider, this had a negative effect on the economy. The downsizing was managed successfully in a way that job cuts were necessary and it was in the employee’s best interest to accept a buy out for their job.

Events to handle the situation were what had to be done and managed in the best manner. The management leading up to the downsizing could have been handled better and prevented such a large loss. Challenges still remain in the auto industry in the sense that the auto industry has a lot of making up to do. Since filing bankruptcy, consumers and employees can no longer put their trust in the industry. ASSIGNMENT 2: "Force Field Analysis" Reference the Force Field Analysis website, noting the importance of the tool to change initiatives.

How would you use the tool in a change initiative you have at work? Please remember that forces differ in intensity. Although there may be a number of forces opposing the change, a greater effort is spent on the forces with the greatest intensity. FFAnalysis Website: http://erc.msh.org/quality/pstools/psffanal.cfmThe Force Field analysis website shows great tools that can be used to change initiative. The tool could be used in a change initiative at work for many different scenarios. The tool would be used during a strategic analysis project.

A SWOT analysis could be performed and used as a tool to analyze whether or not there is more or less opposing forces for the change. The SWOT analysis will show strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats. These different areas can show where there is the less resistance and the most intensity. This can be very beneficial to changing initiative in the work place and can apply to many situations.
