The Internet The internet today is very useful and provides us with many of the needs we have today. It is useful in the work world because it provides us connection and access to as much information as we want and gives us unlimited amounts of knowledge that we did not have in the past. The internet allows us to have fun in our personal lives too. We can watch Youtube videos as much as we want and check out the latest in inventions or have an advanced look at what we will be purchasing. If we are wealthy, it would be a great thing to have because we could shop all day long and purchase items instantly. The internet also allows us to do homework much more easily than we were in the past because there are many resources. We can complete all of our assignments in the comfort of our own home. Facebook has allowed me to connect with so many of my old friends. Malcolm X: The Ballot or the Bullet Malcolm Xs the Ballot or the Bullet speech was aweinspiring. The 1960s was an amazing time period with so much happening. Pop had reached records with bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, John F Kennedy died after being elected, and the Civil Rights Movement concluded with a bang when Malcolm X gave his incredible speech. The people of the 1960s must have been feeling jerked around over and over again. I see the speech on video and think, how could something draw so many people and be so depressing at the same time. We have many followers of Malcolm X and many enemies witnessing his speech. I could not imagine how anyone would want to listen to something so detrimental to my future as a black person. Unfortunately, this is how things were done at that time. Incredible political history was witnessed and Malcolm X paved the way for so many changes for the black population to become what it is today, accepted and strong. Segregation was his philosophy because he knew that whites were not going to do anything about improving the situation if blended together. He also took on a more violent approach because he knew that no changes would be made unless some drastic measures were made. Malcolm was a pas sionate person with powerful words to convey an even more powerful message. No speech in history could compare to his speech because no movement was like the Civil Rights movement. I am not black but I could not imagine living in the society they live in dealing with the prejudice they deal with. It appeared to be a life that was so hard to deal with that I am surprised at how brave Malcolm and others like him were. It takes a very special person to be able to convey a message to a mass audience about protecting rights when most people were against the protection of those rights. Malcolm is able to use force when so many others would have backed down. Malcolm was so aggressive with his message because his father was killed by the KIu Klux Klan. Beatles very person in the 1960s wanted to meet the Beatles and date them. It was a time of excellent new music and rebellion. The fan in the article attended a concert with her mother and a best friend and she was so excited at this idea. She met them backstage and spent all of her money on cds and everything Beatlemania. She was not alone. Many fans wanted to meet the Beatles and many young girls loved to date the members of the band. Any girl in the Beatles presence would be in love. My thoughts on the Beatles is that they did not have a mature sound because most of their songs were quite simple. I also believe that they were overrated because there were men that were much more attractive but were dismissed. The Beatles were given a ton of credit for playing music when there were many others, such as Malcolm X, who had their life threatened over their popularity. I feel that the Beatles were too popular and there could have been more emphasis on many other things during that time but most people did not care about those things because music reached an incredible amount of popularity that perhaps most other items or events should have received. Some of the other events could have received a little more popularity while the Beatles could have received a little less to even things out. College I feel that my college experience is great in terms of building my resume, however, there is not enough time to enjoy and relax in my social and personal life. I am so busy by my coursework, that I feel overwhelmed and get quite tired. I work hard to get a good mark but I sometimes feel that I need more compensation for the amount of work I put in. Grades measure my ability in school and so do exams and there is always another homework assignment and another exam to complete. I am capable of completing homework and doing quite well and I am also able to succeed, however I wish there was more breathing room in terms of the amount of items I have to complete. I know that job prospects will be improved if I succeed and that is all I need to know. After I receive my college diploma, I will move on to university to complete my degree and then my masters. School can be so challenging and the road ahead feels lonely when the rewards are not provided today. Sometimes I feel I am not learning anything by being in school since I do not know how to measure results in the form of a product. When I am finished I will be incredibly relieved. Setting Goals Every individual has an ideal form of themselves that they would like to be either physically or academically. Perhaps a goal would be to get a high paying job or do something that they always wanted to do but never thought was possible. Most people want many of the same things. A nice house, a good car, a great look, and a family of their own. Whether that person attains those things or not, those are the things that most people would like to have. On many occasions, achieving these things takes work. One way to help an individual set goals for themselves is to set up a goal tree. That goal tree has five branches and three sub branches to each main goal. For instance, if want a good job, I must be willing to make sacrifices in order to get one. I may take out a loan to go to school. I may work more hours at work to pay for school. In order to improve my look, I may go to the gym or get more sleep in order to have a younger look. Nonetheless, I have to make sacrifices to get the things that I want. No change is easy and some resistance will occur if the change is worthwhile. Sometimes, we have to make sure that we achieve our goals by facing them head on and by challenging ourselves. Sometimes, outside forces provide resistance. Some goals are too good and people will compete in order to achieve them so it is important to establish what the goals are and acknowledge items will try to come in our way but move forward in a progressive direction anyway. Overcoming Hangovers on New Years A party can be fun but if you drink, a hangover on this night is expected. This is the kind of party that most partiers look forward to all year and they find that every year, the dread the morning hangover. Some of the cures mentioned on this site are to drink coffee to minimize the tiredness and groggy feelings one experiences in the morning on the next day. Some people feel awful when they have a hangover and drinking coffee is one way to prepare to becoming alert. Coffee unfortunately is a diuretic so drinking it can cause problems too. Water is a way of getting a more healthy solution. Drinking lots of water after a hangover is not only healthy but it minimizes the problems that a person deals with when in hangover mode. Some people prefer not to party and that is also a good solution because some hangovers can feel quite awful especially when consuming large amounts of alcohol. Clear liquids also allow for a quicker recovery as opposed to darker liquids. Sometimes, clear liquids do not cause a hangover to occur at all. I would suggest a lot of sleep when dealing with a hangover. I feel that if I were to drink, I would consume clear liquids and sleep in the next day drinking plenty of water to recover. I feel that if I were not to drink, all the better and happier I would be to know that I would not get a hangover. Picture of Open Mouthed Woman This woman appears to either be suffocating or screaming. Judging by the way her shoulders are scrunched in, she looks as though she may not be breathing. She also appears to be in ecstacy. She could be experiencing sexual sensations from herself or someone else. The image is controversial because it is art and yet it portrays a woman that looks overwhelmingly pleasured or some other complex emotions. The fact that it is taking place in a garden is even more surprising because women usually do not appear this way outdoors. I would like to know the artists interpretation of this picture because it is not clear how the woman actually feels. I would like to say she is obviously having sex but it is not clear if she is or not or whether that is what the artist is trying to portray. This artwork appears to be art that will have a cult following and go down in history as great art. The artist has created many masterpieces and has photographed several celebrities. He is no doubt one of the most famous photographers the world has to offer. Fast Cars Cars are always changing and improving each year but creating a car that will out perform all other cars is tough. The Bugatti Renaissance is designed to be the next supercar. A mere sight of the image of this amazing car will get the wealthiest car collectors on board to go out and purchase this car. My thoughts on the car. I do not know how it drives or what the special features on it are but I would purchase it immediately and also add it to my collectors items if I already owned several cars. If it drives as beautifully as it looks then it would be quite a luxury to own. It appears to be incredibly fast. I am assuming that a person would only purchase this car if they wanted to break speed limits. It looks like a car designed only for rebels. I do not see someone that drives cautiously owning a vehicle like this. This is a supercar that would only be available for someone with a strong presence. This car is not for people that are weak. Xeros Waterless Washing Machine A waterless washing machine is amazing to own and has become a reality in 2010. This device is amazing because so much water is wasted when doing laundry and after washing the laundry, a dryer is not necessary because there is no water involved in the washing machine. This device is more useful to the environment than to the consumer because it is not esthetically pleasing nor does it do anything other then save water. This is an item that we all would like to own to save money on our bills. If saving the environment is important to you and the looks of a product is not, then this is the right piece of equipment to own. I would purchase this item to save the large amounts of water that is wasted when using a regular washer. Avatar Review The movie, Avatar, is the highest grossing film in history. This movie had many amazing special effects and was one of a kind in its cinematic displays and ideas. This movie captivated the hearts of many people and will be remembered for a long time to come. We can all appreciate the stunning visuals in this movie and can sympathise with the main character. Sam Worthington plays a paraplegic in the film and he transports into a world where he can walk and be free to marvel at the wonders this new world has to offer. The idea of the movie avatar has its origins from when people were creating their own avatar on chatlines or in cyberspace because they were tempted to see what it would be like to feel like someone else. The story of Avatar revolves around the Natives and the fight for their land during colonialism. Avatar is a great film for families and people who have high imaginations as adults. The scenary in the movie alone makes the movie worthwhile. We all love to see movies with a great story and beautiful special effects. I felt that this movie was unique but I was surprised at how well it did considering it was not the type of story that I would believe would draw that large of a crowd. It beat Titanics record by a substantial amount of money. I felt the movies special effects were amazing but the movie went on far too long. Who wants to see a movie that lasts too long and has a weak story line. I also feel that the movie has outdone many movies today and is ahead of its time in terms of the animation. Famous Architecture These famous buildings from around the world are not only breathtaking but incredibly inspiring. I would love to visit all of these places some day and see them for myself. The pieces are elegant and unique and appear as though a lot of work went into creating them. The architects of the future have a lot to look forward to in their learning because they have great buildings that act as ideas. Many of these pieces are so unique that they entice us to visit the places they are from. It is not enough to see them in a picture. The people living in these places take these pieces for granted because they can visit them every day. Many pieces of architecture are inspiring and we all could benefit from taking a look at our own architecture around us in our own cities. Some architecture is designed to inspire us because of how beautiful it is. The architecture of a building tells a tale of the designer and sets an imprint in our minds about what a place is all about. When we see certain pieces and their uniqueness, we know that that building is a separate entity from all others and its powerful form gives meaning to a place that would not be there if it were not so beautifully designed. Shrek 2 This story had many amazing highlights and funny lines. The fairy godmother was hilarious because all the themes of fairy godmother were portrayed in her character but the humour made her character all the more appealing. This movie had impeccable animation and brought some interesting aspects to Hollywood because most of the time, the protagonists in a love comedy story are two attractive characters. In this film, two ogres fall in love and at the end of the film, the protagonists decide to remain as ogres. We all love happy endings and this happy ending was filled with content and less superficial qualities than most films. Cameron Diaz has an incredible voice and gives Princess Fiona a strong persona with great appeal. Mike Meyers is always funny and he always plays characters with a lot of mojo. Antonio Banderas plays the most adorable puss in boots and his humour is great too. The donkey is great too and we all love how he talks and talks in the film. This is a film that can be watched several times without a person getting bored. Emma Watson Emma Watson is an actress from the Harry Potter Series. She is the largest paid actress of the decade in these films. She has made a lot of money doing work in these films partly because there were so many of them during the decade and because they were popular. If you want to be a high paid actor, just choose a series that has more than five films in it. Harry Potter went on for a long time as far as consecutive sequels go. Batman and Star Wars had long series however there were long breaks in the way for both of them. A lot of young girls look up to Emma Watson because of her fame. Her work in the Harry Potter Series made the film more appealing because she was the only main female character out of the three wizards. I look forward to seeing what new films she will be in and how much success she proceeds to achieve. X-Men First Class Movie Trailer X-Men First Class Movie looks amazing in the trailer. This movie looks much better than any of the other X-men movies. We all love to see superheros perform great feats. There are some awful superhero movies but this one series stands up against the rest. Hugh Jackman plays a great role as Wolverine and the new Magneto in this film looks like he is going to be successful. James McAvoy is an amazing actor so Professor X will be amazing in this film too. I cannot wait to go see this film. Facebook Facebook is a great site to connect with people from our past, however, it is not great if we just sit at home all day using it. We would all love to hang out with our friends much more than sit at our computer all day on Facebook. It will be interesting to see if Facebook gets replaced with some other item. Facebook seems like it will be around for a long time to come though. Studies and new research is including Facebook as a topic now.
