The paper would be summarize the article and present a critical analysis. The author’s initial studies show that in 1960s, interpersonal communication developed because people wanted to influence and gain knowledge. Social construction is fundamentally linked with knowledge. Indeed, knowledge has been spread through languages that were created for effective communication. But by the next decade, the major aim of interpersonal communication was designed towards development of relationship building.

Various theories put forward by eminent social scientists tried to understand the wider implications of human interaction under different conditions. The rationale behind the precept and concept of interpersonal communication became the most important criteria for human behavior. The article succinctly divides the theoretical activities within the precinct of interpersonal communication into six broad areas: verbal and non verbal communication in face to face interaction; codification of signals and message production processes; uncertainty that necessitates communication; deceptive communication where people lie to promote harmony and peace or to advance their own vested interests; dialectical theories that describe cultural dynamics; and the new age communication that is greatly facilitated by advancing technology.

These are important indicators of evolving times and significantly reveal the compulsions of transforming values and social paradigms. Berger asserts that Interaction adaptation theory is primarily focused on the fact that ‘individuals “mesh” and show interaction synchrony, social pressures toward behavioral reciprocity and matching, and both reciprocity and compensation at the level of communication’. Indeed, one must understand that society of any region or place comprises of people with diverse socio-economic factors. Thus,
