During analysis, it is important to first determine the absorbance spectrum. This shows how the wavelength affects the absorbance of photons. The spectrum itself is a plot of the wavelength against the absorbance, and is characterized by the maximum wavelength at which there is the greatest absorbance. This wavelength characterizes molecules in the compound and provides information about the electronic structure of the sample to be analyzed. The photon absorbance of the molecules of the sample are measured and used for the preparation of the calibration curve, which shows how absorbance relates to the concentration of the molecules in the solution.

In the course of this experiment the intensity of light photons for the sample was measured, and absorbance and transmittance were duly calculated. The extent to which photons are absorbed depends heavily on the wavelength of light. As such, spectrometry is performed with the use of monochromatic light, which is light in which all photons possess the same amount
