This has been of great concern to me and the entire neighborhood as we envisage several problems that could arise with this expansion plans. Airport expansion would mean an increase in the number of flights that land and take off. This in turn would increase the sound pollution. 2. The neighborhood would lose the only stretch of greenery that is available to the children as a playground because the vacant plot of land would be used up for expansion of the airport. 3. The elderly in the neighborhood use this piece of open area for catching up with the news and events concerning friends in the area. 4. My mother is a heart patient and the doctors advise minimum disturbance but an increase in the number of flights would only increase disturbance.

As the noise levels increase, the blood pressure rises which impacts the heart.5. My school going children need to concentrate in their studies in the evening but that too would be affected due to the increase in the number of flights. In any case, airport noise levels have a negative impact on the health and development of the children. 6. This would also increase air pollution and this means more of lung-related diseases such as asthma and other ling ailments. 7. Overall, it would lead to higher levels of stress and depression.8. Most importantly, the neighborhood school is close to the airport and the children find it difficult to concentrate on their studies during the peak hours at the airport.
