To most people, Sexual Addiction seems to be a misnomer since sexual activities are normal exercises that occur naturally to living beings. People may find it difficult to comprehend the limits of sexual activities when it crosses the stage of normal sexual activities and becomes a mania, or compulsive obsession. The answer is not too far to seek. The brain secretes chemicals called endorphins which are responsible for pleasure sensations in living beings. These chemicals are also released after peak sexual activities, especially after ejaculation.

Eventually, the craving for release of endorphins through sexual activities becomes very demanding and even uncontrollable, thus leading to Sexual Addiction which makes a person to always crave for sexual satisfaction, irrespective of other considerations. This could effectively lead to “an obsession with sex that dominates ones life, including sexual fantasies that interfere with work performance.” (Sexual addiction, n.d.). Sexual Addictions may adopt many manifestations when joined with drugs and/or alcohol that form a lethal combination that could cause multiple harms to its imbibers; including death or disability.

Besides, the nexus between unsafe sexual practices and scourges like venereal diseases, HIV and a score of other sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are well documented. In this essay, it is preferred to consider the ramifications of Sexual Addictions, a study of available literature on this subject and the ways and means by which further research studies could be made on this subject. This essay would also consider a sound conclusion that could appropriately underpin this study. According to well researched and document studies, there is no symptoms for Sexual Addictions.
