They are also referred to as “Man of God,” “Messenger of Jehovah,” “Sentinel,” “Servant of Jehovah,” and also “The Man of the spirit,” (Old Testament). Mostly when addressing people it was a criticism of the wrong that they have done. They also predict how the future will look like and also warn the people in their regions over oncoming dangers incase they do not change their ways. They were able to foretell of what punishment God would bring their way. They were generally and mostly consulted about the days to come or the future (Matthew).

However in the current Christian religion, a prophet serves as a link between God and the human race. The holy men in the Indian community are seen and treated in the same way as the Hebrew prophets. God commanded some of the Hebrews to become prophets to spread and teach His words to the other people. An example is prophet Isaiah who prophesied and saw the arrival of Jesus Christ and also the big tragedy in Judah. After the prophets went, there have emerged four to five million of the holy men in India.

This is a real difference because the author of Christianity who is God calls the prophets but the holy men in India also referred to as the sadhus either inherit the position of being a holy man or decide to live such a holy life that is without worldly things but are allowed to use cannabis or charas in order to minimize and finally totally do away with sexual desire so that they could solely concentrate on meditation. This is unlike in the Christianity where cannabis is not allowed even to the followers leave alone the prophets.
