My interest in US history and globalization started when I was still young. Technically, the slogan “think globally, act locally” still dominate the local scene. People understand that global issues need to be addressed locally. Climate change for instance is one global issue that needs to be solved at the local level. Throughout history, people appear to be more willing to do something about an issue when it has local impact. This scenario gives us an idea that we can use history as basis for analyzing the response of people to certain global issues. By evaluating the past actions of people, we can predict to some certain degree ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Global history
...Global History Globalization is an international phenomenon with important geopolitical ramifications. The current of world affairs has its precursors in the social revolution of the 1960s, economic crises in the 1970s culminating the collapse of the New Deal and the OPEC oil crisis, as well as the emergence of neo-liberalism as a driving political and economic force in the 1980s. Events from the late 1960s reverberated in the Communist world and finally came to a head in the 1980s with total economic and political collapse. Global View of Modern History
...Global View of Modern History As stated by various scholars, I agree that the global view of modern world history is nothing more than a European perspective on history, documenting the rise of European power. In his book, Pomeranz notes that the domain of modern social sciences have evolved from European efforts, between the late nineteenth and twentieth century, to trace their path to economic development (3). As such, history, as a social science, is not free of Eurocentrism thereby narrowing the view of modern history to the progress of the Western civilization, in particular Europe.
