Since most part of the city is composed of a long line of luxurious homes, the standard of living of its residences also increases. This figure is still considerably low as compared to other cities in California.

Because of safety reasons, San Diego is considered a great place to raise a family. Since parents can be more assured of the safety of their children and other family members, individuals who are employed with either small- and medium-scale businesses or large multi-national companies are able to focus on their profession better. Likewise, the city government of San Diego has managed to develop a competitive and outstanding educational system for children and young adults.

Given that the population of the people living in San Diego has reached a total of more than 4 million individuals throughout the metropolitan area, medical institutions situated in the city have invested a large sum of money on high-quality medical types of equipment and facilities aside from having competitive health care professionals. For this reason, San Diego is considered a great place for older people to retire.
