Running Head: Environment Health & Safety Environment Health & Safety [Institute’s Environment Health & Safety Health Effects of Noise from Nightclub Hearing is one of the most imperative characteristics of human body that allow humans to understand and interact with each other in a comfortable environment. In this regard, hearing is a source of communication, as well as, satisfaction to the body. At the same time, a number of noise-related activities result in serious hazards and risks that affect the human body in an adverse manner.

It is indicated by a number of studies that stress responses are rapidly triggered by high-intensity sounds that affect humans physically, as well as, psychologically. It is observed that nightclubs are major source of exposure of high-intensity sound, which results in a number of health risks and illnesses, such as high blood pressure, stress, headache, anxiety, ulcers, and coronary diseases. (Koren, 2003) A number of physicians have associated heart diseases with regular and frequent exposure to sound waves of high decibels.

According to a number of environmental protection organizations, migraine headaches and high blood pressure are common consequences of noise exposure from nightclubs. In this regard, government should take effective steps to prevent the health hazards associated with community exposure to noise produced by nightclubs. It is observed that unfamiliarity with law is one of the major factors that encourage nightclub owners to keep the noise high in their clubs, as the residents do not complain noise-related problems.

In specific, awareness programs related to noise exposure from nightclubs and other sources should be organized by the government to ensure public and environment safety. According to a survey, more than hundred decibels of sound level were noted in most of the nightclubs, which is much higher than the standard levels. (Koren, 2003) In this regard, nightclubs should be instructed to keep the noise levels according to the allowed ones, and such nightclubs should be constructed away from the residential regions.

It is hoped that the paper will be beneficial for better understanding of health hazards associated with noise exposure from nightclubs.Health Risks associated with Radon Gas Now the paper will briefly discuss health hazards associated with presence of radon gas in homes. According to a number of health organizations, radon is a tasteless, invisible, and odorless radioactive gas that is one of the major causes of cancer. It is observed that such gas is present in a number of homes that results in health risks to the family.

In this regard, effective steps should be taken to prevent emergence of radon gas in homes through proper knowledge and understanding of its structure. According to a study, thousands of non-smokers confront lung cancer due to radon gas in their homes, and in the United States, more than twenty thousand people die every year due to such gas in homes. (Schneider, 2003) In specific, lungs trap radioactive particles that decompose radon gas in their structures. In the result, small bursts of energy are released from these particles in the human body, and particularly human lungs.

Consequently, lung tissues are damages, which results in gradual development of lung cancer in the human body. (Koren, 2003) Moreover, studies have indicated that children pose higher risks from exposure of radon gas, as compared with adults in homes. Therefore, it is very imperative that effective methods should be implemented for testing existence of radon gas in homes. Effective methods are available to test radon gas in homes. In particular, two general ways are generally implemented to test radon, which are short-term and long-term testing methodologies.

In brief, short-term testing methods use charcoal canisters, continuous monitors that help in detection of radon gas in homes. (Koren, 2003) A short-term test is preferred for acquiring quick results, as detectors are placed in homes for a period of two days to eighty days. On the other hand, long-term testing methodology uses electrets and alpha track detectors to identify existence of radon gas during a testing period of more than ninety-five days. (Schneider, 2003) An annual average level of radon gas can be known through carrying out a long-term test in homes.

Lastly, health organizations have provided information and steps that can be taken to lower the levels of radon gas in homes, as prevention. In this regard, one of the most effective steps is an effective ventilation system with fan that ventilates out radon gas from the homes. (Koren, 2003) In specific, experts refer such system as soil suction radon reduction system, which plays a vital role in lowering the levels of radon gas in homes. Conclusively, the paper has discussed some of the health hazards associated with radon gas in homes, and described some of the effective ways to test its existence, as well as, steps that can be taken to prevent adverse effects of such gas.
