Part I During my life I’ve always ponder about the social problems n poor nations across the world. Finding solutions to the malnutrition and hunger the people in the African continent suffer on a daily basis is the type of economic problems I want to help solve. In order to be able to obtain the education needed to help society I need to become a part of the alumni at European School of Economics in order to obtain a graduate degree in Economics. Economics is the social science dedicated to studying the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. Since I was teenager studying at a boarding school in Switzerland I participated in many extracurricular groups in which I volunteered my time to help others. I’ve helped homeless people, the elderly and others humans in my community in need of someone to help them learn basic skills such as reading and writing or just someone to be there with them and listen to their personal problems. My early experiences in life are my inspiration and motivation to get into academic discipline in which I can take advantage of my business experience in order to work on projects that have social and economic impact for the citizens in local community as well as participating in the international spectrum. A person that studies business such as myself has a better opportunity at succeeding in a postgraduate economic program since the training I received during my bachelor studies in Munich provided me with monetary mentality, understanding and intuition which is one of the basic skills and abilities that an economy student needs to be an effective contributor to the academia community. My career goals once I complete my economic studies at the European School of Economics include working as diplomat at a world renounce organization such as the World Trade Association, United Nations or in an embassy. I would also love to get a change to work directly as an economist as a public servant for the government of my home nation of Germany. My long term career goal is to become a college professor. Part II I had the opportunity to work as a broker for a real estate company in Frankford. This professional experience allowed me to work closely with people making lifetime changing economic decision such as purchasing their first home. Every time I had a chance I would perform market research on the state of the economy and its effect on the real estate market. I would pass on my research findings to my supervisors during group discussions. As a member of the European School of Economics I look forward to participating and working with other students to share ideas and help younger students find their calling in life by organizing mentoring programs. I will apply to work with investigators in economic research projects in order to make a direct contribution to the school as a scholar. Part III In my lifetime have encountered many circumstances in which I was able to deal with the challenges. I faced them by not letting emotions and prejudices cloud my judgment and allowing me to find alternative solutions to resolve the dilemma at hand. I would regard as that one of my greatest attributes the ability to be creative, yet perform critical thinking analysis to gauge the feasibility or efficacy of a concept or project. The capacity to think outside the box, and merge creativeness with the ability to visualize the whole, its individual parts and their interactions are the key attributes in order to develop new concepts whether just insightful or revolutionary. In order to be a leader and be able to provide direction and focus one must cultivate these abilities and change your mode from a “problem solver” to a “solution finder”. The capacity to listen to what people are saying, not what you think they are saying differentiates the true leaders from the average manager, theorist, or professor. Ones mindset, effective interpersonal skills and the ability to think clearly and unbiased, are the main attributes of a successful and effective leader, one that will be the guiding entity between the success or failure of any worthwhile venture, whether it is an academic endeavor, managing a team or seeing through the achievement of a project. As a doctor I hope to be able to contribute by providing fresh new perspectives and solutions and be able educate and contribute to the future of our budding professionals. Part IV There is sometimes a fine line between, justice, ethics, legality and morality. What is ethical or just for some people can sometimes be illegal. A clear example face each and every year is tax time. A lot of people are not satisfied with our government, the flawed economic policy, war, corruption. Personally I use to fill out income tax returns every year during tax time, in order to earn some extra money to cover college expenses, and a dilemma I faced each and everyday I worked in my client’s tax returns was the request to bend the rules a little bit or sometimes right out cheat, all the person cared about was not getting caught. For my part, I believe that ethics and integrity are the building blocks of a human being and regardless of my personal opinion or belief that in that they are correct about the current situation have to live through; this does not constitute a license to imitate their actions through retribution. Initially I lost some clients since, I did not allow their enthusiasm or discontent bridge the gap between what is ethical and correct and what is wrong and illegal. But personally it also help me secure the loyalty from the vast majority of my clients, through building and nurturing my reputation as thorough, efficient and honest individual, to whom their personal information and finances could be shared with their utmost trust and confidence. And honestly and through word of mouth advertising as I able to make enough I also was able to keep my schedule full during tax time and was be able to cover a lot of my expenses for the rest of the year.
