Internet downloads, enhanced multimedia presentations, and databases, as well as vital personal and corporate data, are increasing at an unprecedented pace, and from a marketing perspective, it is not unrealistic to understand that the contemporary American citizen is exerting demand for media-related technologies. The United States is a fast-paced, advertising and entertainment-driven culture, motivated in part by a fascination of the future and has been compared to European nations, critically assessing that Americans are a materialistic lot. With all of these factors in mind, it is not an unreasonable assumption that there are significant reasons why individual households are purchasing media technologies, in rather massive quantities, all across the United States.

Radio, and the internet. The basic premise of such marketing tactics: A long-standing concept embedded in the American psyche is the belief that if something isn't perfect, you can make it perfect. With many of today's U.S. households attempting to juggle a professional life and maintain an interconnected family structure, many of these Americans are turning to devices designed to perfect their household and to allow instantaneous gratification in regards to controlling entertainment activities and in producing a workable schedule of correspondence with the busy family.

Marketing tactics based around refining ease of living offers the American perception that all aspects of their environment can be plotted on a significantly scheduled basis. Within the daily grind of high schoolers lives, mobile technology has seemingly established itself as an American virtual necessity. The days of passing notes from desk to desk have obviously gone by the wayside, replaced with SMS messaging by cell phone. Smartphone technology, designed to offer instant access to updated web information and the ability to stay in contact with busy parental professionals, are offering even the youngest of adolescents the opportunity to stay connected with the world.

For the busy professional parent, having a method with which to communicate with their child, for some reason simply to monitor their youth's activities, is a major indication of why smartphone technology purchases are wide among teenage Americans. From a more personal standpoint, youths tend to view text messaging as a safer alternative to communicating with other youths where they can maintain a certain level of anonymity and explore various aspects of their personalities.
