Research proposal for Study of Entrepreneurial Ability and Success Metrics among Small and Micro Enterprises with respect to Tamil Nadu. Research Background:The Tamil Nadu economy the most industrialized in India and the state boasts of having the third largest economy in the country as well. FDI investment which today forms the backbone of development in the Indian economy is still at a range of 9.1% in Tamil Nadu. The state is the most urbanized the country. Despite these statistics, the major industries in Tamil Nadu continue to be small and medium based industries that thrive on the trade of agricultural commodities like rubber and flowers among many others.

The principle and the most successful among these being the Rubber Park, Apparel Parks, Floriculture Park, TICEL Park for Biotechnology, Siruseri IT Park, and Agro Export Zones among others. The state is also the third largest exporter for software parts in a country that is now known as the software hub of the world. Given these accomplishments, despite the absence of big industry names from the overall economic scene of the state the study of the entrepreneurial ability of the small and medium enterprises and their owners would provide a development model that has been tested and has proved its mettle.

Objectives:The following is a research proposal for Study of Entrepreneurial Ability and Success Metrics among Small and Micro Enterprises with respect to Tamil Nadu. Scope:The following tasks would be undertaken as part o the research:The research will prove the underlying hypothesis that it is not necessary to hold big industry and big names for inking a success story where commercial accomplishments are concerned.Entrepreneurial ability and a culture of efficiency and government support to the SME mechanism can prove to be a potent mixture where the economic success of a state set up is concerned.

With this hypothesis we present the research proposal. Methodology:The greatest challenge will be the fact that the research is based on human nature and feedback available from the entrepreneurs and businessmen in the state. There will automatically be issues of authenticity because people in surveys more often that npot state what the think would be the 'correct answer'.
