Scholarship application - Admission/Application Essay Example

I believe that I was born with this innate desire to help other people in my own little way. Having been employed around the globe, I have seen the realities of life which has been far from what is imaginable here in the United States. Poverty, racial discrimination, and inequitable income distribution are all everyday issues which plague several people in developing economies. Having witnessed all these poignant realities deepens my aspiration to contribute my knowledge and skills in other to contribute to other people's lives.

Recognizing the importance of education in the real world, I aim to gear myself with a diploma which will enable me to pursue my dreams. After my employment in various fields, I am keen in returning to school in order to finish my degree in Business Administration concentrating in International Management. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I will acquire in this discipline will help me with my goal of working on various projects which will provide economic relief to impoverished nations.

After college, I aim to join an international aid organization which is committed in improving the living conditions of poor economies. My ultimate aim is to put up my own international aid organization and make a difference in the life of the other people without being recognized. I have huge ambitions yet I want to retain humble knowing that I am just giving back to the world what it has provided me with. I consider the awards that I received for social service are my greatest achievements.

Feeling the importance of serving my country, I join the United States Army right after my high school graduation and serve for three years until I was honorably discharged. In recognition of my exceptional performance and dedication, I have been bestowed the National Service Defense medal, the Army Service ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism service medal. My perseverance also promoted me to the rank of specialist and served as a team leader. Even though I highly value the knowledge being taught inside the classrooms, I have learned that a person's maturity and sense of responsibility is developed through interaction with other people in the outside world.

During the past years, my life revolves in my involvement in the military, employment in a commercial fishing boat in Alaska, and international travel. My days in the United States Army have provided me with numerous leadership positions including team leader and tactical commander of a trucked vehicle. As a commercial fisherman, I work as the skipper of a boat and have enhanced my social skills. These experiences mold me to become the person that I am now-someone who is geared with the courage and determination to succeed amidst all the failures in life.

If granted, I will be very much grateful to be provided with a scholarship which will support my academic growth. I will prove my worth by maximizing the use of the resources that I am provided in order to enhance my knowledge and skills. After college graduation, it is my aim to give back to the society the resources that it provided me starting from my own little ways, to my family, and my community.
