SOCIOLOGY, CRISI AND CONFLICT INTRODUCTION Health is very significant in not only Human Being, but also all creatures' needs health to survive, and without health, the existing of human being would never flourish, and there would be no progress at all. It would also end up in death and many catastrophes that would befall on any society that has insuffient health. Since that is the case, there is the need to assess and find out if health is a social issue that need to have due consideration for the survival of humanity. Now, let have a brief introduction of the subject matter before going back to asses if health can be regard as a social issue. The subject matter of this essay states about Sociology, Crises and Conflict, while under this a question arise which state; "Medicine alone cannot rid humanity of the scourge of AIDS." How authentic is this assertion Can AID be curable only through medicine or there are other approaches that need to bring forward to achieve for achieving that purpose In the end of the essay, it would get to understand about these. Meanwhile, at this point, let flash back once again to talk about already raising debate on health and social issues. No doubt, health is a social issue that needs to have great concentrations from government and private organizations in all communities across the globe. As social means the ensuring of well being of the people, thus, health issue most to be included on that aspect. In Barents Euro -Artatic Region for example, health matter is going hand in hand with other social issues. "The new Program on Health and Related Social Issueswill develop the necessary co-operation between social and health institutions in order to enhance the health situation in the Barents Euro-Arctic region. Vulnerable groups in the population should be the main target of the Program, also taking into account the special problems of sparsely populated areas. Three areas of priority have been chosen." (Working Group on Health and Related Social Issues). However, the issue now is raised on making assessment whether the immune deficiency Virus, popularly known as AID can be curable only through the use of medicine. Can the suffering, problems and lot of tension cause by AID be curable only by application of medicine This is the next discussion. Meanwhile, it is observed that it very true that medicine alone cannot cure the suffering, trouble and tension cause by AID. The disease AID is a very serious event resulting in great destruction and change, which is also politicized world wide, especially in the 21 century. How can medicine alone can cure a disease which is widely promoted by International medical authorities, government and non-government organization, including media, given information that frighten and contradict It must not be possible that the medicine alone can do this work. BACKGROUND OF AID DISEASE. It is noted in an article titled (Evidence That HIV Causes AID) that "acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) was first recognized in 1981 and has since become a major worldwide pandemic. AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By leading to the destruction and/or functional impairment of cells of the immune system, notably CD4+ T cells, HIV progressively destroys the body's ability to fight infections and certain cancers. An HIV-infected person is diagnosed with AIDS when his or her immune system is seriously compromised and manifestations of HIV infection are severe. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently defines AIDS in an adult or adolescent age 13 years or older as the presence of one of 26 conditions indicative of severe immunosuppressant associated with HIV infection, such as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), a condition extraordinarily rare in people without HIV infection". The United state for example has begin to witnessing the escalation of the incidence of HIV Disease from 1981, up to the year 2006, which is approximately 25 years back. The situation not only adversely affected the tempo of humanity, but also created considerable anxiety and frustration amongst victims of the disease. In weekly report of MMWR, which is tagged (Twenty Five Years of HIV/AIDS United States, 1981-2006), explains that "In 2006, more than 1 million persons are living with HIV/AIDS in the United States, and an estimated 40,000 new HIV infections are expected to occur this year". Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the areas where AID hits in no small measure, because many people in that region, both males and females, adult and the young ones. "In 2002 the WHO estimates there were 29.4 million adults and children living with HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa, with 2.4 million AIDS-related deaths and 3.5 million new infections. Even considering the current global focus on HIV treatment, it must be recognized that the nature of the disease, weak public health infrastructure and other factors make quality palliative and end-of-life care necessary in Sub-Saharan Africa. The magnitude of AIDS-related deaths, however, is simply too great for existing hospital infrastructures. Community-based palliative and end-of-life care models are needed as is a renewed focus on quality of palliative and end-of-life care". (Current HIV/AIDS end-of-life care in sub-Saharan Africa) In Britain, the case of AID disease has first begin to discovered around 1981, when a reports began to circulated that young gay men were hospitalizing in London Hospital suffering from uncommon disease. A man who had before traveled to U.S was hospitalize and later after 10 days died. Doctors stated that he might have been affected by HIV, and said to be among the first to get affected in UK. Thus this continues up to 1993, when "During January, 116 new cases of AIDS were reported in the UK, bringing the cumulative total to 7,045. One in six of these new cases were acquired through heterosexual intercourse. The preliminary results of the Concorde trial were released. They indicated that while AZT did help to slow the progression of AIDS, it was only effective when taken in the later stages". Why is it that medicine alone cannot do that work Poverty is one of the reasons that prevent medicine to cure AID properly, as if people suffers from the yoke of poverty, they would have means to eat good food that can give them long sustenance of the disease, while additionally, they would have means to procure effective medicine that would work in their body to cure the disease, or reducing it pains. Thus there is the need to wipe away poverty so it can pave way for medicine to cure AID disease. Stigma and Discrimination always play their roles in preventing medicine alone to cure AIDS, as even victim of the disease receives lot of medicine against HIV, would likely end up not benefiting from the positive effects of the medicine, since there would be stigma and discriminations from other people that are not suffering from the disease. Thus a victim always do not have rest of mind and always feels to be hate by other fellow being, thus the diseases instead to decrease, it would now have way to continue deteriorating. "Misconceptions about HIV/AIDS as well as associations people have with the disease's transmission make stigma and discrimination a major challenge in fighting the AIDS pandemic. Discrimination, as defined by UNAIDS, refers to any form of arbitrary distinction, exclusion or restriction affecting people because of their confirmed or suspected HIV positive status. In fact, stigma and discrimination, when combined with poverty, are leading barriers for people to access the prevention, care, and support they need when affected by the virus". (Global AIDS: The Challenges). Superstition also plays a role in preventing medicine alone to cure AID, especially in African continent. In Gabon for example, a report by a media tagged (Superstitions Hamper Gabon's Struggle with AIDS Prevention), said "Superstition over the relentless spread of AIDS in Gabon, where the disease is widely viewed as the effect of evil spells, is frustrating health workers seeking to alter people's behavior. "It's a catastrophe," the head of the National Program to Combat AIDS (PNLS), Gabriel Malonga-Mouelet said. "With each consultation that we hold, we find at least 10 new cases." According to the UN World Health Organization (WHO), more than 30,000 more people will contract AIDS in Gabon by the end of the year in a population of just fewer than one million, as opposed to around 24,000 infections in all of 1998. Many experts say the main obstacle to prevention and treatment of AIDS is the taboo surrounding the disease. "Nine people out of ten consider the disease linked to voodoo," said an official of AIDS-Zero, Angele Ondo". This signifies that unless superstitions are wiped away, and people agreed to contact professional on this disease, it would continue to increase. CONCLUSION: In conclusion it should be noted that AIDS disease in a global problem that hits every nook and corner, from the far Europe to American continent, to African and Asia region. But the little research made in this essay found that the disease has been escalating since 80s, and all efforts by governments of various countries and private organizations to curtail it has been prove abortive, despite the fact that millions of dollars have been spending over the years under review in procurement of medicine to the victims, but all alone, medicine could not stop the escalation of the disease. Why The finding noted that there are lots of things that come across all the efforts mounted to curtail the disease, that is why medicine alone cannot do the work.
