COMMUNICATION DISORDER INTRODUCTION There are innumerable types of disorders related to communication. This paper will identify and analyse any one disorder that affects communication and will also provide a solution to overcome it. Before we begin, let us be clear about the terms, 'communication' and 'disorder'. Communication is the process of transmitting our ideas, feelings and emotions to the other person. And by disorder we mean, the inability to do something by our own. When we connect communication and disorder, we understand that it is the inability to express ourselves.

This includes the difficulty in communicating our feelings and emotions with others. Such disorders not only affect our communicating ability, but also reduces our relationship with others. With this small introduction, now let us move on to the next part where we shall discuss about a specific communication disorder.AUTISM AS A COMMUNICATION DISORDERIn order to have a clear idea about this communication disorder, we shall begin with the definition of the term 'autism'. Autism is really a brain development disorder that affects our behavior in terms of communication, understanding and so on.

It normally begins as a childhood disorder. How this occurs or the actual cause of it is not understood, but it is quite clear that it has a strong biological and genetic connection. Though this disorder leads to many problems like unequal social interaction, impairments in communication, restricted interests and repetitive behavior, as far as this paper is concerned the focus is on the effects of autism in communication. Autism affects and prevents the progression of good communication by decreasing the natural flow of speech.

It prevents the growth of communicating skills. Some symptoms include delayed onset of babbling, unusual gestures, diminished responsiveness. Individuals affected with this disorder find it difficult with consonants, words and word combinations. Sometimes their gestures are less often integrated with words. They hardly share their experience or interests with others and it is clear in many researches that individuals suffering from this disorder are more likely to simply repeat others' words.

SOLVING AUTISM DISORDERFirst and foremost we should understand that autism is not a disease, but a disorder. It is not associated with physical metabolism. It is associated with mental behavior. Thus, the individual suffering from autism is given proper counseling instead of medicines. We call them diagnostic instruments which do the actual job carrying the research with the autism affected person. They are known as:Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS)CONCLUSIONFrom these tests we will be able to have a certain idea about the level of autism in a person and accordingly we can impart the necessary steps to solve the disorder.

We can get the maximum cure only when it is treated in the beginning stage. We should always understand that these disorders would affect the whole life of the individual if proper care has not been taken at the right time. So, it is very important to have an eye on our children as they grow.
