The global culture focused on technological revolution, coupled by the soaring upsurge of mass media, and a globalized market points us to contemplate whether this phenomenon is characterized by either domination or diversity. I personally posit that it is domination, rather than diversity, which predominates our current global culture.

Both claims are suggestive of a cause-and-effect scenario, leading to the point that without the notion of global imperialism through neoliberalism, media advancement could have shifted to an otherwise different direction, one that does not serve primarily the interest of the capitalist market. Mchesney describes this neoliberalism as "intertwined with a deep belief in the ability of markets to use new technologies in solving social problems far better than any alternative course." A call for the deregulation of a commercial media and communication markets is apparently the centerpiece of neo-liberal policies, which in reality and in practice connotes a call for a "re-regulation" in order to serve corporate interests.
The need to dominate markets in order to thrive economically calls for the furtherance of the sphere of influence by major capitalist nations whose primary problem is the crisis of overproduction. Needless to say, this crisis is resolved by restructuring and rebuilding a new form of media technology, such as the current media, that purports for the absorption of these production surpluses. It may also be posited that technological revolution did not just happen as a consequence of some technological invention; rather, the same is intertwined with the need to rebuild a new media form that would cater to fulfilling the need of the crisis of overproduction in capitalist nations. Commercial media always aims to sell and in doing so, must instill consumers that they need a certain commodity or service. The advanced computer technology, able to reach different nations in a click of a second, is able to do this. The technological advancement that we have today seemed almost an impossible occurrence way back several decades ago, limiting the expansion of the global market but is currently a tool that the capitalist market holds on to primarily. Thus, the capitalist market is in a thriving position, as nations are able to negotiate on new imperialistic and global trend, purporting to resolve potential capitalist setbacks and increase profits.
The current global culture created by the global mass media is resultantly a product of neoliberalism, invariably called 'domination' by powerful nations. Nations who pose as the key players in this global happening are primarily the imperialist nations, the same ones who solicit participation from other nations on multi-lateral trade agreements, also purporting to dominate the global market while disposing production surpluses.
Altman is able to make a sensible link between the growth of lesbianism and homosexuality and the expansion of commercialism posed by capitalist markets. In this view, we may posit that the commodification of human sexuality, produced in a commercialized culture is another product of capitalist stances.
