Personal ment Pharmacy, one of the hottest fields in the health care industry today, provides an individual the great opportunity to work in thefront line of patient care. As an ever-growing profession in health care industry, it guarantees the opportunity for professional growth, outstanding financial rewards and, more importantly, the prospect to assist the patient all through the day. Significantly, it is a very old profession which has changed extremely over the years and this incredibly dynamic, emergent and all the time more diverse profession has attracted several of the modern youngsters with an urge for success and social service.

In my opinion, the most important attraction of the profession is that it is a profession concerned of the welfare of humanity and relief of human suffering. As an individual who has often regarded social commitment as the primary goal of my future career, I have selected pharmacy as my career and believe that it can help me work for the welfare of humanity and relief of human suffering. I also realize that pharmacy as a career offers me enormous patient interaction and direct participation in the safeguarding of human life.

The realization of the various opportunities in the career of pharmacy, including professional growth, financial rewards and social commitment, has lead me to the professional doctorate degree of Doctor of Pharmacy. It was always my dream to promote and improve humanity through my career and this profession offers me the tools and opportunity to realize this dream without compromising on my career prospects. In fact, my personal, educational, and professional background has been a strong reason for my selection of pharmacy as my career and the Doctor of Pharmacy degree is closely related to my immediate and long-term professional goals and career dreams.

Therefore, there are various factors which guided me to select pharmacy as my career and they include the opportunities in this career such as professional growth, financial rewards and social commitment, my personal, educational, and professional background, and my immediate and long-term professional goals. As an individual who grew up in Vietnam, a developing country where there is an obvious lack of pharmacist and healthcare services, I am highly convinced about the relevance of the pharmacy profession in my environment.

I have often been overwhelmed the idea that I, through the pharmacy profession, can directly participate in the improvement of the quality of life around my environment. I strongly feel that there is a great reward when I contribute to the recovery of ill individuals and this has been one of the most essential attractions to this profession. Through the profession of pharmacy, I can be in constant patient interaction which will positively influence my personality as a whole. In my understanding of pharmacy as a healthcare profession, it offers a great chance for very interpersonal communication and I intend to improve my personality through such communications.

As against the common misconception that the relationship between patients and healthcare professionals is deteriorating, I realize that pharmacy is a field of healthcare which has every chance to have a constructive relationship between patients and healthcare professionals and the generic prescriptions and four-dollar prescription program have great relevance in this regard. In conclusion, my personal understanding of the scope and relevance of pharmacy as a profession has helped me select this career, and the other important factors that influenced my choice are the opportunities in this career such as professional growth, financial rewards and social commitment, my personal, educational, and professional background, and my immediate and long-term professional goals.
