The nation’s commitment to ending animosity and war in the region is informed by reason, liberalism, politics, realism and collective social responsibility, constructivism.Realism theory is based on the fact that the state is a unitary and rational actor in international relations. The perspective underscores the fact the state is always in competition for power and international security. The theory also espouses the fact that international relations are meant to be conflicting because of the various disparities in the political, social, and economic frameworks.

A state can be a defensive realist in case of external forces of aggression against the state. Conversely, a state can also be an offensive realist to assert its agitation for political power as is the case with the world’s superpower.According to Kamrava (2013), Saudi Arabia contributed more than 100 jets and marshaled military support from countries like Morocco, Sudan, UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar, which is an offensive realism strategy for any nation to adopt. In fact, the initiative was a deterrence warning to other Middle East nations that are fond of wars.

The country also sought the US help, which contributed logistical support in fighting off the Iran-led extremists in Yemen and this perfectly underscored an offensive realist strategy. Political supremacy has been another reason for the nation’s bid to take the forefront in ending the war in the region. Iran is a potential threat to Saudi Arabia’s existence given the historical rivalry between the two giant oil-rich countries. Iran’s supremacy battles do not consider humanitarian crisis caused by its proxy wars.

Iran is supported by various rogue nations including North-Korea, whose mission is to sabotage the US rather than peace brokering. For this reason, Saudi Arabia has a reason for the noble course in its bid to end any war in the region. The achievement of more than many strikes a day was a manifestation of the good prospects of an offensive realist strategy to ensure a cease-fire in Yemen. The nation has also been at the forefront in the reduction of collateral damage in most anti-terror strikes.
