Advanced Skills in Executive Protection Introduction The research is about a protective security and also known as PS and in this research I have studied and discussed the reasons why this is necessary to take full fitness test for Close Protective Operatives (CPO) before giving to SIA license to any person. The research is about how mush physical fitness is important for the CPO’s. The result of the research project will be very useful for the clients and CPO’s because it will provide a accurate information of importance of fitness testing for CPO’s who are expected to be well-trained and skilled to protect those who are in need of protection e.g. politicians, royal dignitaries and celebrities etc. The research consists of the problems which faced the clients and CPO’s about physical fitness of CPO’s and how much physical fitness programs are important for CPO’s and how much this is useful for industry which, have CPO’s. Literature Review Control Protection Officer is the person who works in a highly threatening environment so he has to be physically fit so that he works properly. Physical fitness should be the basic requirement for the person who is going to be a CPO and Security Protection Officer should give the SIA license to this person who is physically fit. For example Close Combat Levels of Force, The Vital Targets in Combat, The Principles of Attack, Defensive Techniques, and Transition Techniques are taught in training program by the Hunsicker (2010). All these training techniques are physical need a high quantity of fitness. According to Platinum Group (1999), one of their main demands for a CPO is to be physically fit. This means that there is an increasing awareness of the need for physically fit CPO’s and many more firms are establishing and implementing programs in this regard. It is then likely that more firms would favor the incorporation of fitness tests into SIA requirements in order to acquire SIA license than those against (Heinermann 2003). The main purpose of SIA is to give license to the person who wants to be close protective officer (CPO) and do not have any criminal record. Because of this SIA license system performance and effectiveness of CPO’s has been increased. But even with this regulatory body in place the effectiveness of CPO’s hasn’t improved as much. . In a recent study by “Crowd Safety and Security Management” 53% of the respondents believed that the CPO’s operational effectiveness had actually enhanced under SIA principles (Payton 2009). The remaining 47% felt that SIA had done little in an effort to improve the operational efficiency and CPO principles. According to the research, almost half of the respondents felt that SIA had not improved the operational effectiveness of CPO’s (Payton 1997). The same study uncovered the SIA faces a problem of having many already operational CPO’s being unlicensed and has failed to meet the minimum requirements established by the government’s Private Security Industry Act of 2001 in terms of attainment of standards and relevant training necessary for operating in the Private Security Industry. Selection of control protective officer (CPO) can be improved by improving the selection of CPO. Like many CPO training programs focuses and teaches all theoretical laws instead of taking proper physical test but on the other case physical test and training is much more important than theoretical tests. Physical training and tests are much more important for CPO offices because he has to protect the people who need security so physical training is the necessity of CPO. For example SIA license is the basic requirement for the security HR (2010), a candidate is required to attend SIA training which is classroom based focusing on the basic job training and the law in Wales and England as it relates to CPO’s. It then goes without saying that a study focusing on the impact of having physically fit CPO’s would be of great value to the industry as a whole. Methods The main purpose of the research is to evaluate whether the physical fitness and fitness test are important for the selection control Protection Officer or the SIA license should give to the person on theoretical test. The research has three separate and seriously important objectives to include: To examine weather there is any training program for CPO’s only consists of theory. To examine the effects of physically fit CPO;’s on the firm and on the clients. To examine whether the presence or absence of physical fitness has some positive and negative impacts on the CPO’s efficiency (Schneider 2005). Approach The first objective of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of physical fitness on CPO’s operational efficiency in terms of client satisfaction. Second objective is to evaluate that how much important are the physical fitness programs for the CPO’s and the company. Third objective is to evaluate weather there is any training program for CPO’s consists of only theoretical study. For doing that research and collecting information this is required to meet clients and CPO’s for taking information about their satisfaction and un-satisfaction of CPO’s training. Research Sample: The research study has mainly targeted three groups, the management of five protective security firms like Human Resources, a sample of six clients and six CPO’s to provide accurate data from within the industry. It explained to each group the information is valuable to the permanence of the industry and that information collated for research purposes will remain confidential and anonymous for the purpose of this study. Data from human resources will be used to prove whether or not companies recruit by ability and skill to perform the duties required or do they pay more attention to the licensing requirements, recruiting operatives on the presentation of a Close Protection front line license. The presence of company policy with regard to the level of physical ability expected for a CPO will be included and whether or not the company implements an in-house physical training programs and relevant policies in place should it be applicable. The client will give pertinent information in terms of satisfaction with service and the opportunity to indicate probable reasons for low satisfaction with service. The area of physical fitness will be included to identify whether or not it is a priority concern. The CPO’s will be required to provide information relating to any difficulty incurred at work and whether it can be related to their level of physical fitness, secondly to identify whether they are affected by the level of physical fitness demonstrated by one of their peers. The sampling method going to be used in this research study is non-probability purposive sampling method. This is because our respondents are predetermined and they are not random as is the case in probability sampling. With purposive sampling, the sampling is done with a particular purpose in mind and with specific predefined groups in mind (Research Methods knowledge Base 2006) Data Collection: Basically there are two types of research methods that are qualitative and quantitative research methods which are used for data collection. In this project both research methods are used ,firstly qualitative research methods is used in which data has been collected by asking question and by taking interviews . But the research study consist of quantitative research method because through quantitative research method we could know the reason of the problem through scientific research like in this research we search the reasons why this is important for CPO’s to be physically fit. (Mamia 2010). . The human resource managers gave interview to encourage supplementary information to be shared. Managers have said in interviews that physical fitness of CPO’s are very much important for the company’s position because CPO is the person who guards the company’s from the outside threat. Questionnaires have given to the CPO’s and a client for knowing their feedbacks about CPO’s regarding their physical fitness. In this questionnaire there are questions regarding client’s satisfaction and un-satisfaction in which five clients out of six clients showed satisfaction in their answers and one out of six showed un-satisfaction in their feedback. The clients will basically indicate their level of service satisfaction. Incase of dissatisfaction, they (clients) are given a list of options to choose from as the reasons for dissatisfaction with physical fitness associated problems being one of them. These options include; lateness, physical fitness problems, poor communication skills, substance abuse, and any other complaint. The data which is collected from questionnaire will be utilized to recognize the problems, which faced the clients and CPO’s due to lack of physical fitness. Data Analysis: The data which is collected from human resource managers and this will be used to evaluate the CPO’s who attended the fitness programs and those who did not attend the physical fitness program and also evaluate what is the difference between the CPO,S who are physically fit and those who are not physically fit. Through data analysis we could also evaluate the percentage of fitness problems that is observed during research. Through data analysis we could also evaluate the percentage of clients that how many are satisfied with the CPO’s services and how many are unsatisfied. The data that will be composed from the CPO’s will be analyzed for the percentage of problems at work faced regarding to physical fitness problems and a comparison made with that characteristics to nonphysical fitness problems. The response that will be composed from the CPO’s will also be used to make certain valuable and relevant suggestions that can be approve and implemented not just by the joining firms but all over the country.
