Americorps National Civilian Community Corps - Admission/Application Essay Example

As I child, I tried to pay back to the community and the government that nurtured my family by joining and being an active member of the Girl Scouts. Participating actively in all the community service projects that came my way as a scout and even starting my own service projects to help those in need when I was in high school. I always did my part to pay it forward because repaying the debt of gratitude I have to complete strangers and our government is something that I feel I have to do. That is the main reason why I wish to join the Americorps National Civilian Community Corps.

I am not applying to the corps because of the various benefits involved. As far as I am concerned, that is a mere perk for me. For me, becoming a member of the corps will help me achieve my ultimate goal, that of giving the ultimate payback tribute that I can to the memory of the people who helped my family when we needed it. Giving the corps 10 months of my life is nothing when I think about how I would not have even gotten this far in my family and personal life had it not been for the kindness and support of the government and other kind-hearted souls.
