The story brings together long-time favorite superheroes like iron man, played by Robert Downey, Jr.; Captain America portrayed by Chris Evans; Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Thor characterized by Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner acting as Hawkeye and the Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansson. These six fighters were summoned by the director of an international peace keeping agency, Nick Fury, to retrieve the tesseract that was stolen by the villain Loki, performed by Tom Hiddleston. The tesseract was a valuable source of unlimited sustainable energy that could be used for the people’s security however, when used by bad elements, it could be very destructive. For Loki, he wanted the tesseract for him to use to regain his throne that he thought rightly belonged to him and not his brother, Thor. Initially, the superheroes showed contempt towards each other, fighting among themselves. They thought ill of each other and did not seem to resolve individual differences. They had different interests and means of bringing justice that made them exchange hurting words. Thor for instance, always wanted to peacefully get the tesseract from his brother and despite Loki’s obvious disdain towards him, he still wanted them to work things out and make peace. Thor’s love towards his brother affected how he dealt with his mission and this placed the team in more heated arguments. When their first attempt failed, the director was forced to tell the heroes how powerful the tesseract was and that it was planned to be used as an arsenal by the international peace agency. As the story progresses, New York was endangered as the army of Loki attacked and declared war against the Avengers. Nevertheless, with a better view of their situation and mission, the superheroes got hold of themselves and helped each other to protect the safety of the citizens and bring peace and order back to the city. The war is fought and once again the good guys prevailed. The tesseract was taken by Thor and his brother. The city was left with the different opinions and talks about the war that took place as well as the heroes. The story ends with the assurance that whenever there is danger and chaos, there are superheroes which will always be ready to protect and preserve peace and order. With the help of modern technology, the film was created to be believable. For instance, the animation of hulk is realistic enough that one might think it to be real. The pictures are very clear, which is expected from a science fiction movie made during a time when technology is said to be very advanced. Yet, the average viewer would applaud the producers for the believable transformation of Bruce Banner to the Hulk. The editing is not as clear as the pictures that the edited parts actually blend in smoothly in the film and present flawless pictures of the hulk, flying objects and the destructions caused by the war. In addition to the pictures, modern technology also helped make a wonderful film through clear sounds. Dubbings are excellent, matching the movements of the lips to the words spoken. Other sounds also matched the pictures like the planes flying, the breathing sound of hulk, bombs booming and cars crashing. The sound is very important in films because it helps viewers understand the story especially when the film presents a lot of conversations. Moreover, sound also catches the audiences’ attention. It also tells something about the story or suggests the mood of the film that affects the viewers. In some parts of the movie where there are pauses to action and conversations, like the scene where the chaos and debris were filmed, the typical music played in science fiction movies is heard. The story spans from the time when Captain America was found preserved in ice, to the present time when he and his fellow superheroes were summoned for their special mission. The war that broke took only a few days but that took a large amount of the narration of the story. The background of each superhero and how they were found were all filmed separately but are not lengthy as opposed to their coming together and fighting the enemy. The film runs for two hours and twenty three minutes but the time spent in front of the screen assures an entertaining experience. The cuts sometimes are difficult to follow yet; it is one technique that holds viewers’ attention. One should really indulge in the movie to be able to follow the story well.
