Media Regulations The world of today has seen that there have been media regulations imposed on several media outlets for a number of different reasons. This is because these media regulations bring to the reckoning that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done as far as understanding the domains of media is concerned. The media regulations shall always be taken from an imperative perspective because a great number of people are associated with media and hence its different forms and means. What is even more significant is how well the various media regulations have been understood within the changing age of media and technology, and how well people have adapted with the times moving ahead. This paper discusses how well media regulations have been understood in the times of today and what efforts are being undertaken to keep away the negativities that plague the system in more ways than one. Freedom of the media is a much desired proposition. This is because media does not allow its followers to feel tied up with its different angles and perspectives. What media wants however is an understanding that people shall coordinate and interact with its varied realms and thus bring out their respective viewpoints for the long term success of not only these media groups but also the people at large. The media regulations therefore pinpoint how well or how wrongly the media has been able to exert its influence over a period of time, and what the relevant stakeholders connected with media have been able to showcase. There has been a good amount of significance paid towards the fact that media has been a major driving force, and it is for good measure that this force must be deployed to sound and positive effect. The media regulations can literally hurt the cause of growth and development across the board as has been understood within the relevant scheme of things. It is important to understand that freedom of media in this day and age has attained all the more significance because it brings in the equality factor under consideration. What this implies is how well the media avenues have been able to decipher the element of a positive change, which is essentially a change that is for the betterment of all the stakeholders, the customers and the users of the media in entirety. What remains to be seen is how well these people are being treated through the different media avenues and platforms1. When freedom of media is the buzzword, there is significance on finding out how well the people have adapted with the changing trends of the time and what more they are ready and willing to commit to their own selves. This is so required because it shall study the basis of a proper dictum that finds out where and when media will portray itself and how its own self will be manifested in the true sense of the word. Whether or not media has played in the hands of the government is somewhat of an interesting debate and one that demands a great deal of interest. This is because there have been speculations and evidences available which suggest that media regulation is hard to achieve when the media is being directly controlled by the government and its related domains. It is a fact that any government would absolutely cherish the idea of getting attached with the media so as to fulfill its expectations and desires in the long run2. This is a given that the media regulations can easily be put into perspective if the media is controlled in an easy going way. However, this seldom happens because media regulations need to be understood properly before these are implemented in the real sense of the word. Therefore when government has an intervening role within the media affairs, then it becomes all the more significant to understand that media regulations should be accorded the importance that these richly deserve. This would set the ball rolling in the correct direction and find ways and means to tackle the problem at hand. What is worsening is the fact that the government often suppresses the media in its quest to take complete control of its affairs. There are the frequent takeovers of the government over these media channels, newspapers and the like so that they can wrest their initiative and exert control so as to propagate their own viewpoints and perspectives. However, the people usually do not see this in good light because they understand the nuances that are highlighted by the government since they are playing their own game within the related scheme of things. The aspect of media freedom goes totally out of contexts and thus many different problems arise due to a result of the same. The reason why I agree with the media constraints put in by the governmental machinery is due to the fact that it has happened over a period of time, and that too time and again. The role of the government has been one of a negative one, where much emphasis has remained on the stakeholders more than the masses themselves. The interventions on the part of the government are so severe that the people suffer as a result. And if the people suffer then this means that there are serious negativities within the media domains which need to be taken care of. What is more depressing is the fact that people have started to realize where they are taking the media for granted and which avenues are present within their folds that are being taken granted on their part by the media itself. Now this is a two-way relationship which has come about with the advent of the media and the credit for the same goes on to the shoulders of the people who have made possible these changes to arise and thus manifest the essence of media in more ways than one. The disagreement stems from the fact that media has been able to showcase its true mettle by being proactive and direct at all times; an aspect that deems a great amount of significance within the related settings. What is even more important is how well the stakeholders have been treated and what steps have been taken to exert the strengths of the media in a positive sense than the other way around. My reasoning for agreement is based on the premise that government of the time always wishes that the people understand its message alone and forego the one that is independent and has no perspective attached to it. This would mean that the government has played its due role at instilling a sense of comprehension which is not balanced yet inclined in a certain way. The tilt must come about from another side as has been apparent in a number of examples from the Middle East region, the South Asian region and so on. One can easily take the instance of India where the media is not considered free by any stretch of imagination. The media outlets are usually governed, controlled and backed up by parties which have one or the other role within the government of the time. This is a classic case of doing things one’s own way yet not telling the world where the crook has been found. Calling spade a spade is a real problem within such contexts as has been understood with the passage of time and for a country like India, there is all the more reason that people have been fooled into believing what their media has actually been propagating – the perspective of the government in essence. Hence a great amount of ill will is discerned by people from different spheres of life once they come to know that they are being fooled into believing the stance of the government more than anything else3. Thus the Indian perspective is very significant to decipher because it highlights quite a few issues, all of which are pivotal towards gaining an understanding related with the media regulations and how the media domain has been able to exert its own influence within the related contexts. The evidence that is available to support my disposition has largely been credited on to the shoulders of the governmental machinery which has turned things into oblivion as far as the media aspects are concerned. What this has implied in essence is an understanding that people need to understand and analyze for themselves where the media is taking them for a free ride and what positives it can have for their own bearing in the long run. The media freedom becomes a laughing stock when people are not being fed with the information and news which pertains to their respective households rather than takes away the concentration and attention away from them towards trivial issues4. The evidence depicted here suggests a great deal about the working conditions that the media houses have within their folds. What this implies is how well the government has been able to turn the perspectives of the people by usurping the rights of the media and thus has asked these media groups to become the servants of their own whims. This is a problem area and needs to be taken care of, the sooner the better. This evidence has been based upon pure logic with sound reasoning because the media houses have faced a great deal of wrath at the hands of the governmental machinery and thus the success rate for their working domains has come down considerably. One can think about media regulations in a totally different context altogether as well. By this, I mean that the media avenues are controlled properly by the people who are ought to perform such jobs. Also this would mean that the media regulations are properly manifested, scrutinized and then adequately implemented to make sure that there are no ambiguities within the related scheme of things. These media regulations solve quite a lot of quandaries if seen correctly because the main emphasis is on doing things right as far as the media vehicles, outlets and avenues are concerned. However, the people who are behind drafting such media regulations have a responsibility at hand as well. They have to be told time and again where their loyalties lie. They must focus on the long term rather than thinking about the short term measures, finding solutions to long standing issues and plugging the gap between the end recipients and the media outlets that have come about in the first place. This is important because it sets the ball rolling for a number of significant tasks because media regulations are indeed a quintessential subject that has been spoken about a great deal in this day and age. Hence this differing perspective is given air by people as they aim to find out the new dimensions that are being propagated across the media waves through the media channels, newspapers, radio transmissions and so on and so forth – all of which come exclusively under the reins of the media regulations. In the end, it would be suitable to state that the media regulations should always be given the significance that these richly deserve. The need is to get the act straight more than anything else. It solves more than half of the problems that come under the aegis of the media and how it is being regulated in an active manner. How the government plays its due role within the related settings is something that shall pave the way for a number of aspects and how these will be countered remain important to see in the coming times. For now, it is always an imperative aspect that the government stays away from regulating the media to meet its own agendas and to take care of the problems which arise for all the wrong reasons. All said and done, the media regulations should be respected across the board without any glitches coming to the fore, as these will facilitate in the proper grooming and development of the society as a whole.
