Basically, the developers will initiate a set of technologies and best practices that are geared towards enhancing the functionality of the mobile web page to the sports world. Introduction Sports360 is an Information Provider service that specializes in giving the latest sport news, events, rumors, team news, scores and fixtures. In addition, Sports360 showcases sport audio video and analysis on basketball, rugby, football, motorsport, golf, cricket, tennis and other world sports. As an information provider service Sports360 hosts a web a page that is geared towards providing information and entertainment to the end users. In an effort to get more exposure, Sports360 endeavors to establish a mobile commerce page. The task of designing a mobile commerce (m-commerce) page for Sports360 that can be accessed on mobile devices such as Blackberry, PDA and 3G cell phones is underway. In the process of designing mobile commerce there several crucial factors that should be addressed and put into account. For instance, the page content, security measures, advertising and privacy concerns among many other factors. This report will address the key integral issues that should be put into account in the course of designing an m-commerce page for Sports360. Content versus screen size One of the key challenges of designing an m-commerce page revolves around the issues of content versus screen size. Given the fact that Sports360 covers a wide range of sporting activities, its content will be relatively broad. The screen size and ability of mobile phones vary nevertheless most screen sizes range between 128x 160 to 320x 480. In order enhance user accessibility there is need to customize the page content by fragmenting the page content into different sports categories and displaying the various categories in a condensed page menu. The Sports360 m-commerce page should be optimized to incorporate the necessary page contents by using flexible page widths, margins and indentation that can be altered to fit user preferences. Layout and font aspects of the page should be designed using percentages so as develop adaptable pages. Users are thus able to select the window size that is in line with their needs (WebpageFX 2010). Determining the content to be included in the page is also an important aspect that should be considered when it comes to addressing issues revolving around content versus screen size. Browsing a page using advanced mobile devices such as Android and iPhone can prove to be time consuming and tedious. Thus it is important to set specific subject on the page menu that will guide users to find the content that they require. The page should also incorporate navigation panels that enable users to move back and forth the page (Shannon 2010). Security Sports360 mobile commerce page will necessitate subscribers to pay a subscription fee and provide personal details that can be used to identify them. In order to avert fraud the developers will adapt formal verification and specification techniques that will enhance security. For instance, a mandatory security measure will require subscribers to sign up by first paying the subscription fee, thereafter provide personal details with regards to their names, social security number, street address and email addresses. Subsequently the page will register the subscriber and issue the subscriber with a secret identity number that they can use to login to the page. This will prevent manipulation and access of the page by unauthorized users. Advertising One of the ways that Sports360 mobile commerce page will use to raise its revenue is by selling advertising space on its site. Currently, a good number of advertisers are using the mobile web as an advertising platform for their products and services. A study conducted recently established that over 2.2 billion dollars is used annually for mobile web advertising. The study also confirmed that 11% of Web users respond to mobile web ad by asking for more information, purchasing a particular product or service. Apparently, mobile web advertising is lucrative thus in order for Sports360 to raise more revenue there is need to augment and sell advertisement space in the site (Stemkoski 2009). The developers of Sports360 page recognize that there is need to provide advertisement banner dimensions that are larger than 300 pixels. Due to the fact that new mobile technologies are always coming into the market with varying mobile web display features there is also need to identify the most appropriate dimensions so as to avoid clustering of advertisements. The developers will explore the opportunities of employing advertising formats such as the Rich Media and institute guidelines that will incorporate flexible widths that are beyond 300 pixels. Meanwhile Sports360 will provide more advertisement space to companies by expanding the advertising capacity of its pages (Johnson 2007). Attracting web clients and new clients to the mobile page One of the strategies that Sports360 will employ to attract both its web clients and new clients is by using the email campaign. The e-mail campaign will involve sending out Sports360 newsletters regularly to the existing web client and the potential clients through e-mail. Some of the newsletters will be sent on a weekly basis while others will be sent on a monthly basis. Through these newsletters Sports 360 will be able to promote its mobile page, follow up on its web clients and inform potential clients about the content of the Sports360 mobile web page (Miles 2010). Another strategy that can be used to attract web clients and new clients to the Sports360 mobile page is by using ChompStack. ChompStack enables mobile pages to be customized with unique colors, logos and backgrounds that can epitomize the true spirit of Sports360 mobile page. ChompStack quickly creates a Flash-free information station that enables mobile users to load quickly into mobile pages even when the signal levels are low. When using ChompStack, customers can key in the regular Sports360 website address on their Blackberry or iPhone then they will be redirected automatically to the Sports360 mobile page. ChompStack sites were mainly developed with mobile devices in mind thus when Sports360 signs up with ChompStack the mobile page can be accessed by hundred of mobile devices and not just Blackberry and iPhone. This will in turn attract more clients to the web page since clients will be able to access all features in the mobile page regardless of the model of the phone (Miles 2010). Moreover, Sports360 mobile page can attract both its web clients and new clients by linking the page to internet social networks such as twitter, face book, Yelp, Hi5 and Open Table among many other social networks. Furthermore, linking the mobile page with these sites will allow users to directly visit the applications through the mobile page. Given the fact that these social network cites are frequent by millions of people chances are that by linking the Sports360 mobile page and forming forums with these sites the Sports360 mobile page will gain more prominence and attract both its web clients and new clients (Miles 2010). In order to attract new clients and maintain the existing clients, it is important to develop the Sports 360 mobile web with the global client in mind. This implies that the mobile page should develop a slogan that conveys a global outreach, be sensitive to cultural nuance and use universal metaphors and images. These steps will ensure that there is an extensive outreach of new clients from different cultural backgrounds. In addition the Sports360 mobile page should include multilingual options that incorporate local languages such as Spanish and Chinese among many others. Including testimonial from renowned sports figures and legends who visit Sports360 mobile page will further attract both web clients and new clients to the mobile page. A short piece of a sports celebrity testimonial should be conveyed in the front page of the site. This will enhance the credibility of the mobile page and attract more clients (Miles 2010). Privacy concerns Due to the surging trends of cyber crimes it essential to put into place security measures that will ensure that there is no unauthorized access to private user information such credit card information, passwords, email address, phone numbers or residential address. As the developers of Sport360 page, we will employ the following measures to ensure that user data is secure. All subscribers’ accounts will require a password and an account ID to access information. The page data centers will incorporate firewalls and other advanced security measures by using the SSL 128-bit encryption. All data centers use firewalls and other extensive security measures to prevent unauthorized access of user data. Standards The development of operation standards is one of the strategies that the Sports360 will adapt so as to enhance accessibility, usability and interoperability revolving around the usage of this mobile commerce page. The developers will initiate a set of technologies and best practices that are geared towards enhancing the functionality of the mobile web page to the sports world. The main goal of initiating these standards is to ensure that Sports 360 commerce page is accessible and reliable to users. Given the fact that clients pay fees to gain access to the page, these standards will ensure that clients get value for their money.
