Mobile phones in South Korea By Introduction There are several global marketing theories that have been used to carry out sales. Due to increase in the volumes of sales of mobile phones that occurred in 2014 in Korea, there has been increase in the popularity that has been attained due to the cheap that continued in 2014 from 2013. These have come about due to marketing theories that have been applied in South Korea. There was increase in the sales of smart phones due to increase in the popularity of phablets.

This called for research in the country to come up with economic factors in the global market that could have led to the increase (Passport, 2015). Economic indicators of market attractiveness Population is a factor that has been seen to improve market attractiveness. Factors that are associated to population that brings about attractiveness include distribution of age, life expectancies, size of households and urbanization that occurs in a country. According to Passport’s consumption in South Korea 2014, in 2013, the love that made the increase in the sale was due to the fact that the feature phones were much cheaper than other smartphones.

The increase was also after there was welcoming of new operators in the market after the consumers were not satisfied with payment of data charges while using the smartphones and they did not have variety of choices to make. Income as a market characteristic is important in marketing as it enables those that earn more to purchase more. Per capita GNP is an indicator that primarily indicates the purchasing power in a country. Rich populations tend to consume more than others that have low income.

In South Korea large population is rich with more purchasing power. Market Attractiveness in South Korea According to Passport’s consumption in South Korea 2014, market attractiveness is brought about due to consumption patterns that are in the country. The consumption patterns do not have to consider regions that are cut across. Inflation is considered with the buying habits. There has been management of sales by Samsung electronics in the country. The maintenance is due to the even supply of featured mobile phones in 2013 despite the high competition from other brands (Hjorth, 2009).

This has attracted the company much into the country. Apple Company was attractiveness in the country is due the increase in the share volume in the country. The increase was by 3 percent hence the company remains attracted to the country. LG electronics maintained the second position in the market by volume sales in 2013. The company performed well in the distribution of featured phones. The performance was due to the popularity of Wine Sherbet. This makes the company still much attracted to the country.

The brand resulted to the boost of sale of the company by 49%. Pantech Company lost volume of shares in the country but did not lose hope (Steinbock, 2005). The introduction of a smartphone by the company accounted to the increase ion the shares of the company by a percentage of 12. The companies’ combination resulted to a volume share of 90%. This makes more attraction of more companies in the country (Passport, 2015). Managerial recommendations Recommendation by the management recommended for an increase in the volume of sales over the forecast period.

Recommendation of the management has also brought out that the popularity of phablets has resulted to a positive growth in the country. According to Passport’s lifestyle in South Korea 2014, the youth in the country purchase the phones due the range of screen sizes that they have (Steinbock, 2005). The management has also brought out that the Android OS system will continue to dominate the phone market with a share volume of over 90%. Windows OS system is also expected to experience an increase in the sales volume (Passport, 2015).
