The popular theory in normative research is the theory of logical positivism; it encompasses a philosophical tradition that adheres to the view that all facts are derived from experience. These facts have little dependency on senses but instead, take up their form and shape from experience. Characteristic of logical positivism is the ideology that judgment of values cannot be classed as knowledge (Hayat n.d.). When considering research in the structural sense, research methodology has been defined as methods, techniques, and tools that are employed for research (Hayat n.d.).

These methods may be of different types, having various characteristic attributes. Some of these methods are quantitative, while others are qualitative; some are merely a combination of both. Methods may as well be case studies, surveys or comparative methods. Expounding more on the structural definition of research methodology, techniques can be classified into descriptive, analytical, theoretical, explanatory, applied etc. Tools entail tools that are utilized for data collection, such as those for documents, questionnaires, interviews, sampling, observation, and Internet among many others.

These methods, techniques, and tools constitute the basics of research in a systemic, scientific manner (Hayat n.d.).Correlating the academic structural point of view with the under-discussion research, one can define research methodology as a technique for collecting data through questionnaires and interviews; a process in which the researcher is engaged in listening and watching others. The methodology part aims to explain how the research was conducted and what purpose does it intend to achieve via collecting and reviewing a number of literature reviews performed by different journalists as mentioned in the literature review section.
