With the present day world slowly being taken over by the effects of the social media, it was not easy for the company to prove its credibility at the moment, as well as explain the issue at hand. This paper will analyze the social media and its implication during the BlackBerry crisis of October, 2011.

At the time in October 2011, BlackBerry Messenger service not only displayed a very slow response, but also displayed outages in different consumer settings such as Canada and even the UK (Arthur, 2011). Browsing on the gadget was also very slow; thus, creating panic from a great percentage of its users (Arthur, 2011). How organizations use social media to communicate with their consumers through a crisis So as to deal with the crisis, the company administration opted to deal with the crisis using social media to communicate with its clients.

As seen in the work of Arthur (2011), it is evident that the company sought not to use the company’s official website but opted to create a page that was tagged, BlackBerry Service Update. The company also posted a Twitter messages to comment on the crisis (Garside, 2011). Through these moves, the company was able to handle the negative remarks from its clients as it had the chance to explain the causes of the issues, and that they were controlling the same.Recommendation for better communication A preferred recommendation for better communication would be instant communication as opposed to a delayed one like that of BlackBerry’s case (Ogden & Ogden, 2014).
