Teacher Marketing video review Impression My first impression was the video was a bit naïve to be used as a marketing tool to motivate the employees of Apple to beat IBM in the marketplace. It used the World War II D-Day analogy which I find to be a stretch to be compared in Apple’s quest to conquer the marketplace of computers.Summary The video was a motivational marketing video that drew parallelism the 1984 Macintosh computer to the 1944 D-Day attack of the World War II. The Nazi’s were replaced by IBM and that Apple will beat them with superior hardware and software.

It used the motivational slogan “rendezvous with destiny” to emphasize that Apple had been dominant in the market before and that they can do it again. The video also showed that the office workers who were turned into zombie by IBM’s slow processing power were delighted to have the new Mac computer and that Apple won the battle just like the allied forces during the Second World War.Recommendation The video looks naïve for the modern audience. If the same approach will be used to motivate marketing people, it will be ineffective and probably ridiculed.

It may have worked in 1984 but 30 years later it would no longer work. Of course we know now that Apple did not exactly win the PC war because its Mac and laptops only has a tiny share of the market. They did not however dominated the smartphones and tablet industry which were not yet present when the video was made.
