FedEx customer profile is divided into 6 segments. These are FedEx ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx custom Critical, FedEx Express, and FedEx Trade Networks. The most common company customers include international corporations, E-Commerce Companies, small and medium sized businesses and individual customers.

On the other hand, the customer groups represented below have different demographic information related to age, sex, income levels and purchasing habits.Demographic information According to FedEx Company Management, International Corporations are the most profitable customer groups. The group consists of international companies who purchase products from different countries to the destination industries. FedEx provides excellent transportation services for such products. Most international corporation customers are modern companies between ages less than 30 years old.

Moreover, the international corporations have an extremely high income levels ranging from &50 billion Per Annum. The purchasing habit of this group is recommendable because they make massive purchases for their raw materials that require efficient transportation to the designated areas (FedEx Corporation, 2013). E-Commerce Companies forms the next group of companies served by FedEx. FedEx Company offers various services to E-Commerce companies such as mail delivery, goods transportation both locally and internationally.

E-Commerce companies are of any age, and the income levels range between $20 billion to $30 billion per Annum. FedEx Company customer profile also caters for individual customers. Most people prefer sending mails, parcels, and other vital information via courier companies. FedEx offers services to individual adult customers over 18 years of age. In addition, individual customers can be of any sex and the income levels has less significant provided the person meets the charge requirements.FedEx Corporation customers The most targeted customers under the international corporations segment include Computer and technology industries like Apple, Google, Max, and Sony.

On the other hand, FedEx targets most E-Commerce companies and the rapidly growing small businesses all over the world because they offer excellent business to the company. FedEx has entered into collaboration with OfficeMax to place its self-service drop boxes in all OfficeMax stores across the nation. In addition, FedEx has won various cargo carrier services in many countries like China, United Kingdom, and Australia (FedEx Corp, 2013). Customer motivations The ability of FedEx Corp to offer a wide range of transportation and shipment services makes it attract many customers.

Customers are motivated by the efficient, quick and reliable transportation and shipment services that the company offers. In addition, FedEx staff comprises of professionals who have skills and competence in handling customers of different natures. Moreover, the 6 segments listed above allow customers to choose the type of service they want for easier classification of products. Through this service, customers are guaranteed of delivery of products sent to the designated persons (FedEx Corporation, 2013).

Attracting and retaining customers Attracting and maintaining customers is an extremely significant aspect for every business. FedEx Corporation has a unique customer attraction and retention strategies. Firstly, the company uses the Porter’s Five Forces Model to examine the competitive nature of other companies. The model saves the company from any internal or external risks, determination of prices, catering for buyer’s bargaining powers, and managing any threats in the business. Secondly, the company employs global business consultants who warn the management of any potential improvement or decrease in customer turnout (Benson and Kinsella, 2012).

Useful recommendation FedEx Company customer profile provides an excellent example than other companies should adopt. On the other hand, the customer profile does not provide fixed prices for sending various products.
