Product Packaging Introduction This present essay focuses on product packaging. (Klimchuk and Krasovec 9) described product packaging as an aspect of the product that adds value to the product, and equally helps in marketing the product. The essay will state the functionality, communication, and perceptual aspect of the package of the Bees Knees, which is produced by Klein Constantia. 2. The Bees KneesThe Bees Knees is a honey product that is produced by the Klein Constantia Company. From a personal perspective, the packaging of the product is appealing and relevant to the product stored inside the container.

Figure 1: an image of the Bees Knees package source: http://www.atpace.co.za/packaging/bees-knees3. FunctionalityThe package, which is a small white box, holds the plastic container at an upright and tight position, preventing it from spilling or crushing due to sudden impact that can occur mostly when the products are being transported. 4. CommunicationThe package represents a beehive and the ridges embossed on it represent planks of wood that are joined together by nails that appear as dots on the box.

The box is embossed with the Klein Constantia symbol, which informs consumers that Knees Bees is a product of Klein Constantia. The bee appearing on the die-cut slit on the box invites the consumers to open the package, which also contains images of bees and small die-cut bees at the base of the container, which denotes that inside the container is a factual honeycomb. 5. Perceptual aspects image of the bee on the outer surface of the packages, those inside the container, and the small die-cut bees at the base of the box easily informs the consumer that the packaged product has some association with bees.

The consumer can easily interpret this to mean that the product inside the container is honey; this is because honey is the most common product that is produced by bees.
