Technology is often considered the most powerful tool capable of enhancing lives through great innovative ideas and approaches. In the past, there have been a number of products defining the success and importance of technology in the social and business environment. Mobile Phones have been one of those products based on innovative technology which enhanced and empowered billions of people across the world in an effective way. The research emphasis identifying and underpinning the impact of advances in mobile computing technology on the functioning of traditional mobile phone manufacturers.
The research also aims at outlining the technological advances being made by Nokia and Apple along with analyzing their hardware and software strategies that offered great acceptance and presence in different parts of the world. Moreover, the research also showcases a comparative analysis between these two organizations in order to understand the overall impact and influence of mobile computing technology in the past as well as in the present. It needs to be mentioned that Mobile phones were considered revolutionary products defining the seamless movements of wireless technology enabling users to be in touch with anyone and everyone in the desired way (Agar, 2004).
This also helped in minimizing geographical boundaries along with making billions of lives easy and convenient. Prior to mobile phones, fixed landline phones were introduced that did not offer the liberty to carry phones while away from homes. Mobile phones change this phenomenon while allowing users to carry an effective device connecting people in the desired manner. It is important to have a close understanding of the concept and introduction of mobile phones that will further help in assessing the scope, rationale, and purpose of the research in a critical manner.
This will also help in developing the aim and objectives of the research along with finding ways to achieve them.Mobile phones represent portable electronic devices that can be used to make telephone calls across wide geographic areas. The emergence of mobile phones in the mid-1980s revolutionized the area of telephony and enabled people to talk from wherever they were, at home or outside, across vast geographical distances, without being restricted by having to be near fixed-line phones. The usage of mobile phones has expanded phenomenally in the last two decades and the total number of mobiles in use now exceeds 4.6 billion. Whilst mobile phones were in the past content to offer the same type of communication services as traditional fixed-line phones, albeit through different technological processes, recent years have seen enormous advances in the growth of mobile computing technology.
Mobile computing technology has radically altered the scope and usage of traditional mobile phones (B'Far, 2004).Mobile computers represent remote computing devices that help users to perform computational functions through small display screens that are available in these devices. The invention of mobile computers has enabled computer users to manage many of their activities, which they would otherwise have to do with their desktop computers. The first mobile phone was designed in the year 1973 that is often considered as a stepping stone for the inception of the newest technology that defined mobile phones in the literal sense in a logical manner.
