Introduction

Being a management student in business, I have learned numerous crucial aspects which will aid me to work as a better manager in various cross cultures among many people in the future. I have been taught about various international management practices and additional cross culture matters which will help me become a help me become a prosperous intercontinental leader. Having learnt with students from diverse cultures and societies, I have knowledge on how to embrace new things and manners which will assist me to advance my skills and qualities. On the other hand, there are areas which I ought to amend to become victorious in my prospective occupation. Participation in school teamwork that requires accurate time management, I have improved my time management skills. Working on such strict time made me realize the importance and usefulness of recognition of one's strengths and weaknesses for personal growth. I have put effort to enhance my other skills and strengthen them and improve my weak skills and make more established goals which I have perfected which will aid me in individual growth of future jobs.

Self- assessment of competencies and attributes

Capacity to stand in the multitude of advanced, intellectual and more mature persons in the management department it is significant to grow and advance more in management skills (Beausaert, Segers and Gijselaers 2011). These crucial skills aid me in character advancement and will assist me to thrive in the upcoming career. There are several skills in which am at my best while others I am weak. With the aid of this self-evaluation, my desire is to advance my high points and make them better and improve the skills of which I am feeble. There are numerous skills on which more effort is needed to make them better and improve on others.

Teamwork

Working in an association between diverse cultures of persons necessitates collaboration (Carroll, Rosson, Convertino and Ganoe 2006). Teamwork is a proficiency which needs more improvements because I will soonest be more qualified and work with managers all over the world. It is hard at times to work when it is group work. I experienced a difficult time on one of my project which required teamwork as the group members were from diverse societies though I was able to cope well. I can rate myself in 3. It’s difficult to accomplish what one is doing with people with different work designs. Owing to efficient management skill, I managed to guide the group to the end. Still I desire to study more about working in a team. Team means there is shared participants, drive, sovereign ideas to share. The best way to continue developing in this area is that I will have more interactions with groups in every opportunity that arises to boost my team relations.

Interpersonal Communication Skill

Communication skills are essential for any person for the individual development. To maintain proper relationships with any proficient person or business communication skills are a necessity (Beausaert, Segers, Fouarge and Gijselaers 2013.). When I started the master’s program, I had indigent communication skills. Having come from a different culture communication was difficult with other people. With many efforts, I learnt more, and I am now able to communicate with fellow persons effortlessly. Through the use of various audio CDs, volumes, the basis for communication in the diverse culture I was able to improve this aspect in a short duration of around eleven months. The communication rate was 2.For first seven-month I was not able to obtain any employment, but as the skill was developed, I got a job with a medium sized manufacturing company. Though much growth in my communication skills, more improvements can be made. Communiqué with individuals from dissimilar culture is different Beausaert et al (2011). Cultural factor is considered as a key reason for hard interactions between people. It is crucial to for communication growth to comprehend and communicate with others simply.There are many parameters to be followed in the perfection of communication for this determination I have embraced the model of communication [2] which I reflect will enhance my communication skills in superior mode between diverse nations. This model shows the communication course between two, comprising of the setting of reference each conversationalist uses and the main filter via which message sent and got must go through. The study assists me to develop my communication skills in cross culture atmosphere to become a better leader in future. It will make me a better communicator thus leading to a prosperous manager in any world organization with people of diverse cultures.

Negotiation

Negotiation is a problem resolving skill. One requires negotiation skill as it is a procedure in which battles are reflected, thoughts are sort out, and answers are found out. During the negotiation course, the aspect that is materials is the elegance of negotiation. A person should be more clear, precise, and straight when dealing with a variety of matters. The negotiation method should not result in frustration for the parties involved in the negotiation skill, I have developed 3. The rate of 3 is not a poor rate though it requires improvements. A disagreement broke out between my study mates which required immediate intervention because they almost fought. Though with less courage I approached and kindly requested them to cool down. They paid attention to me and after much negotiation, we were able to come to an agreement. They praised me of my negotiation capacity. Despite that much advancement is needed in this skill. I will do more studies in books and articles to learn more about negotiation skills to better my prospective career so that I will be able to hand conflicts among employees in the international companies without favor.

Intercultural Competence

Owing to the exposed economy for most of the nations it is simple for the association to move their trade from one state to another. Employees from diverse cultural contextual, work under the same settings. Not only about workers, but learners who move from a different state to another in search of higher education face cultural differences. To succeed in working in such an environment, every person who dreams to be an international manager like me ought to have cultural competence. It is essential to study other people’s thinking, necessary to learn the level of thinking, the way of life, and cultural beliefs to promote good relations with them (Draganidis and Mentzas 2006). In intercultural competence, the rate is 3.As I came for higher education I learnt through many books about the people I would meet ways of life, and this aided me to adjust swiftly into the new culture. I still have to learn more about diverse culture with whom I am associating with like my friends from Europe and other countries. There is the urge to learn more about different cultures to deal with difficulties that may arise with individuals or groups of other cultures thus assist me to become a competent intercontinental manager in the future.

Conflict Management

Conflict management is the ability to solve a conflict. It is a crucial element that one should possess. The rating in this is 2. When I joined school due to diverse cultures and poor communication conflicts arose between group members now and then. I had no conflict management skills then, so fights were frequent. Currently, I have learnt about the importance of conflict management, and I have been up to the task to solve conflicts that arise between people with such problems. Though not competent in the area I plan to get more advice and studies from people with better skills to improve mine so that I will be a responsible manager in my company.

Career Development

Such a development is important as knowledge is power. Every manager or person ought to look forward to the growth of their profession. Career growth rate is 4%. This is because from a degree am in pursuit of my masters thus there is career development equipping me with more knowledge to become a competent manager. I plan to continue developing this skill by furthering my education to greater heights to acquire more knowledge.

Review and Evaluation of Mid-semester Development plan.

The skill in my mid-semester project was time control which I have to improve significantly. When I started my higher education studies, it was tough to manage time for me. I delayed my assignments and when I acquired a job poor time management was still there. There is value for time management if there are objectives to be achieved. I have worked hard to improve the skill by making schedules for my daily duties and respect the schedule. Such acts have helped me, and there is a vast improvement in my time management skill.

Long-Term Development Plan

According to my prospect career plans whether I find a job as a manager in an international company excellent communication skills is essential to enhance good relations with all workers. Communication across cultures is important and came to a conclusion to boost those skills. English being a language used universally to develop my communication skills I have come to a conclusion to learn widely about communication.

Conclusion and recommendation

I would like to develop my faults in this personal development plan. I have understood my weaknesses like poor in I.T skills and slow decision making. There are ways for me to improve by studying carefully and be attentive to improve in the shortest time possible. Slow decision making is a personal attribute I need to boost to enhance my prospective career. It requires much time to develop it and slow to get an accomplishment. I should try to adapt to make decisions slowly after much thought so that the result may be proper. It’s hard to change one’s mind abruptly thus requires much practice to become perfect in decision making. With the improvement of these skills, my desire to be an intercontinental manager will be achieved because key weak areas will be well-catered. All that is needed is my contribution by putting extra effort and encouragement from those around me i.e. my fellow students.
